In that case matrix also doesn’t federate because its not interacting with the fediverse like here on lemmy.
But revolt, matrix, and rocket.chat are all deployable by end users to connect to the platform and interact with people.

There is revolt and rocket.chat but yes I’d still do matrix over the others unless a direct discord-like clone is absolutely a must for some reason
I remember one time thinking about how my grandpa didn’t learn this and other related skills as a kid the same way I did in school and so we understand our same language a totally different way, where I saw parts of words, he just saw a whole word.
Aaaand back down lol
Looks like its up and running again!
Anyone know what happened to peertube.wtf?
When I search for it I am greeted with “502 bad gateway open resty”
I was using it and enjoying it a lot for a couple months then it started that and haven’t been able to access it since.
If I recall @meldrik@lemmy.wtf operates it?
Nice didn’t know this existed, plus its framasoft so its got more attached to it already than just a dev who started a thing recently
This cool new thing that was just created recently called smoke signal that is basically a fediverse alternative to website like meetup.com
Once I saw this I had realized what was missing from the fediverse experience and that this was it, local interaction!
Ah yes thankyou! That solved it, I haven’t messed with the settings at all on Lemmy.zip as far as I know so I think that must’ve been a default setting.
maybe it would be helpful if someone leaves some comments on how to delete olyour 23andme account and revoke as much of your data from them before they flop
i for one have never heard of this guy, i had read this talk but didnt even know the name of the person until just now. i am rather new to super niche internet spaces beyond the bigger niches though so i may not be a good representation.
a lot of your issues are effeciency related which i think can realistically be solved given some time for development cycles to take hold on ai. if they were better all around to whatever standard you think is sufficiently useful, would you then think it would be useful? the other side related thing too is that if it can get that level of competence in coding then it most likely can get just as competant in a variety of other domains too.
great video! helped me understand the peertube structure a lot more when i get sround to setting up peertube things ill make sure to subscribe to your admin chronicles channel
Thanks for recommending peertube.wtf I’ll think about joining sounds pretty much like what I’m looking for
ok thankyou! will crosspost there
i think you may be mixing federated and small-web feel there. there exists the ability for individuals to have functioning email servers although it is difficult but fair considering how much of the world is reliant upon it and opposing it with various kinds of attacks. i dont thimk it requires many individuals to have their own servers for it to be considered federated, the fact that we have dozens of relatively big email providers to choose from who prioritize various different things is enough to cover the majority of peoples needs and i think that is the threshold requirement for a sufficient self sustaining federated network. regardless of that, if you compare this outcome of email as of present to lets just say a platform like discord whose goal is to facilitate messaging between people, you can evidently say thst emails outcome is better than the proprietary service that discord is locking people into and not making alternatives ways of accessing the service a simpler process.
i dont know how email survived, i bet whatever happened there is what will make it work too
for me it usually goes
me: reads the manual, fails, then asks for help
person helping: heres a canned tip

person helping: you should read the manual

person helping: oh turns out i couldnt actually help you, anyways go try somewhwre else
open up this is the CIA
This is the point I was making yes
