That’s exactly the point, but I think you forgot the conclusion. Many talk show hosts and voters actually did believe the conspiracy was real. Then the natural timing for releasing all of the information on Epstein is a couple of months after the president takes power, which brings us to where we are today. Claims were made, promises were made, and people are waiting for that information to be properly published.

I think this is one of those interesting issues because Trump lies all the time but many of his lies have to do with things that are slightly obscure from 6 years ago, that if you weren’t paying attention or you didn’t go back and look at the history books or the video, you could be forgiven if you forgot. He might say some law was passed by Obama but actually he’s the one who signed it, for example, but if you didn’t know much about that law in the first place, it’s not going to be fresh in your brain that he’s lying to you. But the Epstein scandal, that talk continued until a few months ago, and it’s very easy to understand what the claims are and how a transparent investigation would occur.

So he turned it down because he … knew what was happening there … and said nothing to the cops because … who cares about the victims… Right.

He is afraid of any kind of consequences. Public embarrassment, etc.

No, it sounds worse. What good is the testimony of a “witness/convict” that you threaten and bribe? It’s not, it’s nothing. Well, if you put it together with the Epstein Files, that might be something. Which is what we already knew.

They won’t arrest anyone. If they do, everything about this whole process will be subpoenaed and plastered in public for all to see.

It’s certainly true that the system is broken, but at the same time you’re suggesting we should forgive HR employees for the bad stuff they do, and I don’t think that’s how morality works.

Not only that, we all understand that sometimes employees don’t have control of a situation and they’re going to follow company policy or go along with their bosses. But we can see through their words and their body language how they feel about it, and we can recognize small actions that they could take to make a bad situation slightly less bad. In my experience it’s very rare that you will encounter such behavior in HR, because the vast majority of HR workers are perfectly happy to f*** us over as much as they can.

Last year I was talking with a veteran coworker who was worried about where the company was going to end up in 10 years, but my contract ends in a year and will not be renewed. I told her openly, they’re not paying me to think about 10 years from now, they’re paying me to make the next year a good year, and I don’t really care about the long-term future cuz I won’t be here. She was furious, but she wasn’t furious enough to go get me a long-term contract. I think she never saw the hypocrisy; even today she still thinks that I’m a bad worker.
