IBM, a major advertiser on X, has pulled its spending from the social media platform, whose employees are grappling with what to tell its other advertisers, according to internal messages.

To be clear: Musk endorsed a tweet which used a false antisemitic conspiracy theory to tell people why “Hitler was right”

More advertisers will withdraw from X later.

One can hope, but I suspect plenty will still be left when the dust settles and some will even come back. As long as there are actual users to advertise to and the platform maintains even the slightest appearance of legitimacy, businesses don’t care. Money motivates these businesses, not morality.

At this point (earlier, actually), anybody still using that platform is guilty of condoning his behavior. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

Apple won’t. They’ll wait for this to blow over until he says something dumber in a couple weeks. Wonder what the breaking point is.

They may have a multi year contract with twitter, that they are still stuck with, but even then…

Sure. But I don’t expect it to come back while Musk is around

Why is that? It’s taken this long for them to suspend their ads.

Because Musk crossed the line from dog whistles to explicit hate, and that’s incredibly damaging for brands.

He has done it before, it only concerned Tim Cook.
