A singer commenting on another singer’s comments on the election. How many degrees away from politics are allowed? What does Ja Rule think of Ethel Cain’s comments?

This article focuses more on Israel vs. Palestine than anything specific to the LGBTQIA+ community. Given that Ethel has deleted her posts and Chappell has clarified that she’s voting for Kamala, they appear to wish that this not be treated as newsworthy. Chappell just didn’t endorse anyone. There’s nothing more to it. Keeping it in the news cycle just perpetuates attacks against them.

On Thursday, September 26, the “American Teenager” singer posted to Tumblr, her only social media, simply writing in one post, “chappell is right tho.”

In a separate text post, she continued, “like yall cannot be stupid enough to scream fuck israel all year (rightfully so) and then go happily vote for kamala and meme the fuck out of her like everybody did trump like she didn’t just get up on that debate stage and say israel has the right to blow the entire levant to smithereens.”

I think the debate over it is somewhat interesting. I can think it’s valid or misguided. But Chappell, specifically, requires no defense. Even if you disagree with her non-endorsement, that’s like the most minor complaint you could have. She’s still solidly voting for Harris and stated as much, which is just as good.

74 million people voted for Trump in 2020 after one of the worst presidential terms in U.S. history, stripping federal protections and pushing radical anti-LGBTQ+ judges into every level of government. And the two candidates are still tied in the polls, despite only adding an insurrection and convictions to his resume. That’s the problem.
