I just created my account yesterday, so this is my very first post—excited to finally introduce myself! I used to spend a lot of time on Reddit, but a few unexplained bans (and no replies when I asked why) made me realize how centralized and opaque it’s gotten. That’s when I stumbled across Lemmy.
Admittedly, I was worried at first—most of the communities I checked out had only a handful of posts and users. It felt a bit empty, and I wasn’t sure if I’d stick around. But after poking around and asking a few questions, I’ve already found some really welcoming folks and genuine discussions that I didn’t see elsewhere. The decentralized setup took a minute to understand, but now I love how you can choose instances and connect with niche communities that actually care about the conversation rather than chasing karma.
Big thanks to everyone who’s upvoted or replied to my comments so far—it means a lot for a complete newbie like me. Looking forward to diving into more topics and getting to know you all better. Here’s to fresh starts and real discussion! 😊
Yeah welcome but I hope you are aware that this is the !asklemmy@lemmy.ml community. Not for introductions. For that, we have !newtolemmy@lemmy.ca
