Bedeviled NXP/ARM SDK stdlib. Hate it, we need \n\r there. Why!!! What a PITA.
I’ll look into those, thank you!
(I currently set up my APL keymap via .Xmodmap with xmodmap, and setxkbmap for X11 terms, and with ‘loadkeys’ for console.)
Great info! I will try it when I decide to trial-run Wayland again, thank you!
(Some things I had read online suggested that Wayland did not use the x11 configs. If it does, that’s good news.)
As someone who hasn’t yet moved to Wayland, how good is support these days for alternate keyboard mappings? Is this something that each individual window manager needs to support, or does Wayland itself manage them?
Not just “international keyboard” support, but truly arbitrary keyboard/symbol mapping support. I muddle in programming with APL, which needs its own key mapping with Unicode symbols.
I recall KDE had its own mapping support which used some system APL layout but I’d rather not have key mappings tied to a specific window manager.
Xerox?! In my day we only had those faded-ass mimeographs, stinky sheets of blurry purple letters :P
…and we learned phonics in Canada in the late 70s.
Hercolobus Or Red Planet, by V. M. Rabolou… it’s ‘interesting’.
Call me crusty, old-fart, unwilling to embrace change… but docker has always felt like a cop-out to me as a dev. Figure out what breaks and fix it so your app is more robust, stop being lazy.
I pretty much refuse to install any app which only ships as a docker install.
No need to reply to this, you don’t have to agree and I know the battle has been already lost. I don’t care. Hmmph.
Why is this illegal immigrant who lied on his application still being allowed to weigh in on anything to do with this topic?
Can’t SIGTERM be observed to react to a poweroff?
That’s what I ended up doing. A dumb monitor is just fine, as long as you don’t need a huuuge screen. The main thing is to find a good external speaker though that doesn’t auto-sleep in the middle of one’s show…
Heaven forbid journalists do… you know, their jobs?
Or, please consider Devuan as well, to ensure there are distros without hard dependencies on systemd, an expansive attempt to cement IBM/RedHat’s control over the direction of Linux through foundational changes to the init, filesystem, login, homedir, and other components…
Please don’t bother replying to change my mind… never gonna like systemd no matter what. If it works for you, fine. Some of us still find it wholly unnecessary.
I put on my robe and wizard hat
When our last TV which was ‘smart’ died, we just bought a big lcd monitor at the pawn shop. We already were only using Kodi on an Android box, so a monitor with external speaker is fine. (Seemed spyware free last time I checked, but beware no-name android media boxes on=from eBay etc., use a tiny or old spare PC instead if you wish).
One must ‘sail the high seas’ tovget content, of course…
Too little, too late :(
Isn’t the Senate supposed to have a Marshall who has authority to haul people in who ignore subpoenas and the like?
The USA seems to have an awful lot of ‘regulations’ and ‘laws’ that have no real enforcement, it would seem.
Enough of ‘courtesy’ and ‘expectations’ for all governmental things such as this. Anything that isn’t mandatory apparently will be ignored. Close the loopholes. Amend every law and regulation with the full expectation that every person it might be brought to bear to is a slimy grifter wannabe-fascist that will only listen to the very real threat of incarceration and jailtime from this point forward.
Oh, and give the President 2, maybe 3 pardons max and none exercisable in the last year of office. Or something. Geez, anything.
Because the infection of Fascism and White Christian Nationalism has too many others in power who were in a position to soften her judgement; or too many are still in denial and aren’t willing to mete out definitive judgements to stop things before they can go further.
The rot goes deep and is nowhere near to being rooted out, and the US legal system seems to be locked in ‘kid gloves’ mode in dealing with these people.
There’s a dedicated tool named sshguard which works nicely.
