And ctrl + shift + v to paste, just in case
It’s iDRAC.
I’d say that RAC is the overarching term for different Dell Solutions, see Dell Remote Access Configuration Guide
DRACT supports the following types of RACs that support RACADM commands:
-
Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 8 (iDRAC8)
-
Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 7 (iDRAC7)
-
[…]
-
Chassis Management Controller (CMC) for Dell PowerEdge M1000e and PowerEdge VRTX
-
[…]
And it’s just shorter and easier to say
¯\_(ツ)_/¯but that’s not as dumb as when he calls the SuperMicro system “iLO”. That’s IPMI. We don’t even own any HPE. I’ve no idea why he’s stuck on iLO.
Perhaps his first encounter with remote management was with iLO and he just thinks that this is how it’s called. It’s “integrated Lights Out”, and “Lights-Out Management” as well as “Remote Access Controller” both are generic terms (and I suspect that this is why Dell adds an “iD” in front of its product names).
But we are way to close to the “GNU/Linux Copypasta” than I would like.

They should have a remote console like Dell RAC or HP iLO

Oh, for once the BSD version has more options than the GNU one.
why
-exec rmwhen find has a -delete flag?
Well they all have their own web service, that’s how they can deliver the interface. Of course there are a lot of applications that know they will run aside with others because they complement each other and will set a default port that won’t interfere with them, but it can still happen and that’s why you can change the port. 8080 (and 8008) are just the official alternative ports for HTTP traffic and thus still often set as default in the configuration of many applications.
It’s the default port most applications use when they run an integrated web server.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump is losing the confidence of business leaders, billionaire investor Bill Ackman says
0·8 months agoAdd to this the destruction of public service so that they can privatize them. I’m fully with you there and I’m still baffled that media all over the world seem to just ignore that and still search for “logical” reasons.
That you need an extension to disable the overview at startup still boggles my mind and the arrogance of the developers in the thread that started it didn’t lessen my antipathy for Gnome at all.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•NAS / NAS + server? Unraid, Proxmox, Intel, AMD? Looking for guidance.English
2·1 year agoWas there 6 months ago, I’ll just share what I did: OS: I went with Unraid because you can mix different sized HDDs without loosing space, just make sure the parity disc is same size or bigger as the biggest one with data. I backup everything with duplicacy to a stupid nas (wd mybook i got 2nd hand) and to an external hosting via ssh.
Most CPU is used for video transcoding so I went with a 12th gen i3 12100, it’s more than enough for my usage. Just don’t make the same error as I did… I really recommend a better cooler than the boxed one. It can get loud when unmanic starts to converting bigger videos to h265.
My normal PC is fully team red as it just works better on Linux for gaming but for nas, 12th gen Intel seems to be the way to go as far as my research shows.
I don’t use a gpu and the slot for it is used for a DELL perc h310 SAS controller in IT mode for more discs.
Most services are not exposed and I use wireguard to access my server remotely. Single docker services are exposed with nginx reverse proxy manager and dyndns, my domain is set to resolve to local IP addresses when at home or through vpn, this way I can always use the same hostnames with valid certificates. I use a simple bash script in a cron job to update my dns zone.
I have other hardware to play around and did work with proxmox and other solutions, but this NAS had to just work without lot of tinkering and I’m really happy with it.

2·1 year agoSame here, stimulant meds help a lot with it. I also have troubles understanding lyrics in songs. English isn’t my first language and I really thought that I just don’t understand this accents. Turns out that I can understand the lyrics way better when on meds, without it just sounds jibberisch - I can hear the syllables but they don’t make any sense.
Assuming you are logged in to the server running unbound, are the ns for .it reachable? Do all .com domains work and no .org?
Can you run dig +trace on a domain that doesn’t work
