6·1 year agoIt’s pretty difficult to have a slogan when the price tag is reason enough to download it

You should probably use fedora instead of debian testing.
Fedora is intended to be used as a more up to date distro. While debian testing is just that. Testing

2·1 year agoI can stand behind reolink. Quality products at really good prices.
I have personally installed their cameras for multiple people and never really have issues out of them.
And check with your local telephone co-op and see if they will hook you up with free ethernet cable. All you need then is a crimper and some ends.
Love these cameras

6·1 year agoI wish other distro’s would implement this. It’s a very modern thing to do and really does make linux as a desktop feel more complete.
I’m fairly sure flatpaks are planned to have something like this and I am really looking forward to it

Anything run through wine right now on wayland is running through xwayland
Well hopefully xwayland won’t be needed much longer for wine.
And yeah the customization is very impressive. I worry though that a lot of users will create illegible color schemes and complain. Even though it is their own fault

32·1 year agoA CEO is a needed possition
Ha! Good one…
oh wait. You’re serious…
How is a ceo needed? They do no work. Their entire job is to rake in cash from workers.
All a ceo needs is a guillotine.
How are you liking cosmic? I tried to run it in a vm but it kept wanting to crash on me :(
Play on linux is extremely old at this point and isn’t really updated.
I understand that it was a tool that worked well for you in the past and you could probably get it working with the right dependencies but if I am being honest. It’s not worth it.
Wine has improved drastically in the last few years and with that a lot of new apps have come around.
My personal favorite is bottles as it is very easy to use and works well for both games and applications.
Another option is lutris but it’s a lot more oriented towards games than applications.
I hope I was of some help and good luck
I pretty much am exclusively on linux just because I prefer the workflow of gnome.
Sure a few games don’t work but it’s usually a competitive game I have no interest in.
Being able to use my computer without ads or shitty updates is a godsend

Linux@lemmy.ml•I just finished setting up Linux Mint for an old buddy of mine on his old dog of a laptop, rendering it useful once again!English
32·2 years agoYou may wanna try putting a solid state drive in. It will boost performance so much
Just vanilla gnome. I’m pretty basic
I have had zero issues on my desktop. And on my laptop I have way better battery performance. Mind you both are using AMD graphics
A totally reasonable response to someone kindly posting a translation

Hyprland is very pretty and smooth. But damn. It’s reputation as a home to a community of homophobia and transphobia keeps me far away.
I wish there was another wm devoted to eye candy but until then sway will be my preferred wm
