Lol tell this to people who are upset that every planet doesn’t have a thriving colony in it. The “empty planets” are frustrating to them.
Not that you or they are wrong, it just highlights that matters of opinion on things like this are a spectrum, and sometimes you end up on the far end. I like that I can land on a planet and have something besides just rocks, but also that’s it’s procedurally generated so that it isn’t the same every time. It’s false replayability, sure, but if I like playing the game, it doesn’t matter to me that the layouts are the same.
I mean, he did at first. Lmao and then (idk the order in which it happened) he flipped with his base to “vaccines will give you rabies and chemically castrate you” when they started coming out. He initially bragged about how fast he was helping companies develop the vaccine, then it came out and he decided to trash them
Yep, own a manual, driven manuals prior, and learned when I was young (conceptually at least, I grew up racing motorcycles, and the idea of clutch+shifting became a thing when I was about 8). Never formally was “taught” in a car, just got in and started driving one. Am 32 in Appalachia.
70% of the time, they’re different sizes. And if they aren’t, then the little chip on them let’s the printer know it isn’t the correct cartridge.
If only it were so simple…
I think there is maybe a misunderstanding of what was meant by “disenfranchisement”.
I don’t think my previous comment would constitute bashing, but I may just be misreading it.
And I’d argue that a person on the internet leaving a comment is wayyyy less likely to lead to disenfranchisement than Republicans actively gerrymandering, taking away voting machine in minority heavy precincts, changing voter ID requirements, making the distribution of food and water in long election lines illegal, etc.
That’s all well and good, but any kind of non-involvement only pushes us deeper into that system. One side sucks and cares about general human rights, the other side doesn’t. One side attempted a coup, the other is largely pretty pissed about it. And unless something happens overnight that hasn’t happened in the modern US, the winner is going to be D or R. One side will get us closer to bring able to get a better system, the other side would gladly make up election results and stay in power indefinitely a la Putin.
Comedic relief, watching him scramble between the GOP and the fence he normally sits his stupid ass on…
When Manchin goes, he isn’t getting replaced by a more left Dem. He is as left as the state is gonna go for some time. Trump had ~70% of the vote; even the most liberal county, Monongalia, still broke for Trump, and that’s where WVU is.
Anyone who thinks the citizens here will vote for another Dem are delusional. He’s staying in power because he was already there, simple as. He was an agreeable Dem because he would talk about coal lovingly and bitch about things people wanted him to bitch about. If/when he swaps to R, he’s going further right or the people here will vote a better conservative in.
Not to mention this wouldn’t be nearly as hard of an about face if they didn’t make it a primary characteristic of their persona. It’s why they get pissy when we say “prosecute Biden if he did anything wrong”. We don’t have the same level of blind fealty to the guy we voted for. He was just the best option we had. Meanwhile, if they can’t/don’t get to vote for Trump, then it is clearly a condemnation of the voting system that has worked for decades because they can’t “lose” to liberals, they’re weak and gay.
It’s astounding the lengths people go to for that fuckin cheeto…
That only accounts for physician labor, not other labor involved. Nurses, administrators, other operational labor that isn’t a Dr.
But the point of contention was Dr salary, not overall labor costs with healthcare, so it shouldn’t necessarily be relevant to this particular conversation. I’m sure there are plenty of people who also take issue with the legion of administrators insurance companies pay to handle visits and services, as well as the number of people hospitals pay to try to claw money out of them as well. They provide nothing to the healthcare service, and exist only to try to keep/gain as much funding as possible. You don’t have less cancer because Tom at BCBS was able to deny the Tylenol they gave you two months ago.
They didn’t. If you go to the hospital, and are charged $12k for a 3 day stay, $20k for an MRI, and $1.5k for general medicine, Dr’s working for free would reduce your costs from $33.5k to just under $31k.
This is like having a massive bleed from an artery on your leg, but you put a bandaid on a scrape on your arm instead.
I live in WV.
We ain’t electing a D. Manchin was as good as it’s gonna get here, and by all accounts he’s pretty shit. It’s a running joke that people call him Maserati Manchin cause he’s only ever here in his Maserati, electing to live in DC on his houseboat.
Therein lies the problem.
I vote D basically straight ticket, because that’s the only option I have in my state. But traditional Dems still only want us drifting so far left; corporate interests still stranglehold politics on both sides. Dems just have the decency to support general human rights while transferring wealth.
New, hour old account trolling the comments arguing with everyone who is positing the wholly impossible solution of “Russia just not invading Ukraine”. Who could have seen that coming…
At any rate, seems like this article does a great job of laying blame at the feet of anyone except the man who ordered the invasion in the first place. Clearly the Ukrainian populace is in favor of defending their country; they have been solid in defense and have started an offensive. Clearly the Russians are not united in their action, as they just recently had an extremely public attempted coup by their wonderful Wagner troops. Which side has more strife and indecision behind it? Ukraine or the Russians?
As for who benefits from this action, it’s wild that the author ignores the benefits that Russia would have from this. The large warm water ports in the South, increased access to oil reserves, cobalt, and other mineral reserves. We can just gloss over that, though…
As previous student who was in school when cell phones blew up in usage, I wasn’t not preoccupied by my phone because I had to keep it hidden. I was preoccupied with keeping it hidden so I could keep using it. Texting with T9 without looking was a breeze. The only thing that slowed my usage was the fact I only had like 500 texts a month allotted to me.
Making the kids hide it won’t make them less distracted. They just become distracted by hiding the phone. I feel like you’d almost have to just ban phones entirely, which today is pretty impractical.
See, I feel like the lack of security and other questionable actions were more in favor of Trump, allowing the crowd to move more freely and come closer than ever would be possible if they responded as expected. I’m not exactly up on my 1/6 lore recently, but regardless, shit wasn’t handled correctly, regardless of what side you’re on. Motivations get much more murky, which is insane. It just goes to show the state of US politics that were having to deep dive into primary, secondary, tertiary motives.
Not that other major nation politics isn’t the same, it’s just exhausting.
I can’t yet. I mod two functionally dead mags that I’m trying to keep going. It’s just small populations, and from Reddit, it seemed either no one jumped over OR they just don’t care enough to find the community here. One did well to have 1 post a day in Reddit that wasn’t spam. The other was pretty active, but it’s a niche game so.
When it comes out, I’ll probably wait until cross-mod comes out. Or I’ll just keep an eye on it from Lemmy and mod from kbin as needed.
