Network in person as much as possible. Not just traditional networking events, but if you can do things around your hobbies and interests, but mention to folks what your career / job targets are that’s a way to find “ins.”

I got a great job in tech strategy because of a public speaking course. I made sure my speech topics leaned towards my career interests and chatted with a fellow student who was an exec assistant which led to the job.

I know it can feel like a crap shoot, but if you speak up around people who feel connected to you, it’s likely at least some of them will want to help.

I doubt every nuance of constitutional procedure and the loopholes by which they can be exploited in multiple branches, and minutiae which may or may not block each of those avenues is basic civics. Yet, here we are needing a daily understanding of all of that to appreciate the impact of each step of the latest chicanery.

Thank you for explaining. I feel like I’m becoming an armchair constitutional process hobbyist this year (against my natural inclinations). I appreciate you, and all the knowledgeable people who take the time to help educate.

So, if this is initially approved with a 2/3 majority can he still veto it and then they have to vote again? Or is there such a thing as a “veto-proof” initial passing?

You might want to check out Red Dead Redemption 2 in story mode. The graphics and physics are pretty incredible. It’s a little old now, but I think it still holds up well, especially if you like the “old west cowboy” aesthetic.

Mine’s a speech to text to the right people with one misinterpreted word. I was on my way to a party and tried to send, “I’m bringing Veuve.” As in the champagne. Nope…all 13 people in the group text got, “I’m bringing lube.” Needless to say, about half were disappointed when I showed up with champagne, and I still haven’t lived this down.

Last I heard water had flooded the first floor entirely. Their power went out about six hours ago. They’re in their 80s and stubborn as hell. Hopefully I’ll get an update from them tomorrow. Parents. sigh

I’m an extrovert. That’s not the problem. This is social bullying. Please don’t frame this as “extrovert” behavior. This is reprehensible social interaction. As an extrovert I would NEVER talk about personal experiences at work. I would NEVER ask anyone to participate in my conversations unless they clearly wanted to. Stop conflating extroversion with bullying.

Yeah, the time change always messes me up more than I think it should. I wish we would just stop it altogether.

Not anymore. Used to have both and deleted them as data mining and mishandling became more prevalent as the user experience declined. Now I’m only on Lemmy and barely on LinkedIn.
