was dead
20k MAU can feel pretty dead, even 100k can if none of them are sharing things you’re interested in.
Key-based connection with SSH
I’m not certain on how secure this is, but what you’re referring to is usually called “Passwordless SSH”
You’re gonna look around and see a few old accounts and think you missed the early bus. You didn’t. We’re still pioneering.
If you think “why isn’t there a community for this” or “why isn’t anyone posting to this community” it’s because we’re small and we need people like you to fix those issues!
I decided to Take One More Step here and go poke around the plugins. AutoSuspend seems to be the closest match, it’s able to make an audible noise and send a toast. There doesn’t appear to be anything that has yet been built to get a notification to a remote device.
With one slightly weird exception
KDE connect is installed by default on your deck, and has the ability to pass notifications to a connected device. It would technically be possible to permanently Bluetooth connect the deck to another device to facilitate remote notifications, but this would be expensive battery-wise and probably defeat the purpose of having the notifications in the first place
Thankfully this isn’t ubiquitous, at least in my experience. The Hades franchise has its second game in beta (is it still in beta? I haven’t checked in in a few months) with a female lead and I haven’t noticed a peep about that. Hopefully that’s not just the communities I’m part of and it’s actually been received as well as I’ve perceived
Basically “not all gamers” but not in an asshole way haha
Go set up an ollama instance and melt your worries away. Data in your hands once again.
However, you should also learn some restraint. Privacy and security aren’t an all or nothing battle. Everyone has some holes in their armor, they need them to breathe.
As much as we may disagree with Felix and his decisions, I can’t help but see the potential value of one of the most popular internet celebrities in the world pushing the “Linux is just as good as windows now” narrative.
It’s gonna push more devs to click that enable Proton button a lot more often, they wouldn’t wanna lock their game off of one of the biggest YouTube channels in the world now would they?
Probably don’t start by installing nothing but a window manager
Oops. I ran into a lot of problems by doing this, but boy did I run into a lot of tools too
I think deep seek have an uncensored model
They do, but the smaller ones and the distilled ones still struggle with some censorship. Methinks it has to do with more parameters = more ability to decide what is and isn’t disinformation, however I doubt they’re gonna self host the 18b model on 8b brand to get around that
He said “I’ve been closing in C# and Java for 2 years” and I asked, in front of everyone, “are you doing web dev?” And he just coldly said no
See this could have been fine if I didn’t double down and go “then what are you using java for… OH WAIT”
Actually made this mistake in front of 20 people the other day. Guy at my job mentioned coding in java and I asked if he was doing web dev 🤦
The US military uses tapes for long term storage still
Hyprland is not a DE
I like to pick based off the name of the command I use to evoke the package manager. Currently, I’m enjoying using yay but I’ve been thinking about emerge quite a bit
Edited for pedantic specificity
Man if only there was an option like --sudoloop to ensure that doesn’t happen
[…] mouse following cat
I think I saw something recently about the cursor getting some tweaks in Wayland, I think KDE was working on it? Not sure if it’ll help this kind of stuff but they’re trying to standardize the cursor a bit better
I think you misread both the question and how they used ChatGPT Mr Bash Wizard
One of the big issues that I personally had with Pixelfed is that content discovery is kind of difficult on the platform. Sure, there’s probably some pictures out there of the obscure shit I’m into. However, all I ever found on pixelfed was like landscape/nature photography and a little bit of porn
