Well yeah… Windows users can still use Steam. They sell games. They don’t want people to switch anything; they wanna sell more games.

1. They don’t need anti- competitive practices to stay relevant like some other companies seem to.

2. The Deck is intended to allow games not even made for Linux to run on it. Having games not actually designed for the system working well on the system is more of a flex than purposely getting devs to optimize for it.

A lot of games use C#, actually. And, in my own personal experience, learning by doing is the best. It definitely would be widely transferrable if you wanted to mod games.

Aurora is the engine Neverwinter Nights ran on. The scripting system was driven by C#. The guidebook was the official “strategy guide” but for the toolset, not the game itself.

I learned C# from the Aurora guide book I picked up with Neverwinter Nights back in the day.

IDK about the tech community as a whole, but Lemmy has so many die-hard Linux users I kinda doubt that’s the reason. Especially in this community (Linux Gaming)

I do feel the latter part of that statement with this, yes. It sounds like something a kid would mod into Elden Ring, and not an official Fromsoft release. Yet it is an official Fromsoft release. I’m not feeling the hype, but maybe it’ll surprise me when it comes out.
