0·5 months agoThanks for the info, I’ll read through the docs and hopefully get this up and running again in the near future. Fortunately, nothing here is mission critical and I can still use the machine with VPN active. Getting resolv.conf back in working order appears to be the right solution.
Yes I believe that Mullvad routes you to their DNS server so that explains why it works when connected to VPN. If I attempt an nslookup when NOT connected to VPN it fails and the server it attempts to contact is 127.0.0.53. When I connect to VPN the nslookup succeeds, and it uses the same server address.
I then disconnect from VPN and ping the ip address that I just looked up (I chose etsy) and the ping goes through so this seems to be a DNS lookup issue. Is 127.0.0.53 the right server address? I would expect it to use my DHCP server address of 192.168.x.x format.
I run Mint and the touchscreen and pen both work. I haven’t tried anything with the web cam to confirm or deny that one.
The system programs let you scroll on the touch screen (looking through the app store for example) but, frustratingly, Firefox doesn’t support this. I haven’t looked too hard for an alternative or work around though.
Excellent, thanks! There was a thread the other day where someone posted instructions on a lighter weight IoT version of Win10 that doesn’t have much bloat. I think I’ll try that one.
Didn’t realize this, shoot. The VM will take more space than I really like, but I guess I can remove it when I’m done.
It definitely requires a USB connection between the computer and the Maestro unit. Shoot, didn’t know USB was unsupported and was hoping to avoid a VM just due to the extra space required. Looks like I have to though, thanks for the help.

0·8 months agoSo ask it about a made up or misspelled word - “how many r’s in the word strauburrry” or ask it something with no answer like “what word did I just type?”. Anything other than, “you haven’t typed anything yet” is wrong.
I’m in MN and this is why I love mail in voting for all. I was able to sit down at my computer with my ballot and research all of the non-partisan candidates to see who they really are. There absolutely was a conservative nutjob vying for every contested spot.
I was going to say that they could have stopped the headline at “quarter” as far as I’m concerned.

Based on what I’ve heard about the guy, I would certainly try my best to hold my breath if I ever found myself near Trump. That or use a biohazard grade face mask.
