So, apparently this headline is just totally misleading.
Browser games were huge in Japan, but that market collapsed (and probably all moved to Mobile), but the “hardcore” PC gaming we’d typically think of, has grown massively.
On Steam, Japanese language has grown from 0.85% in July 2015, to 2.56% in July 2025.
Germany is weird with the Wolfenstein games
Not anymore. You can buy the non-german Wolfenstein games for a while now (since 2019).
I think I remember that around the release of This War of Mine and Wolfenstein 2, there were some more discussions about just flat out banning Nazi symbols in video games, and treating them as art.
Porn and Hentai games are still pretty much all blocked on Steam, and some gory stuff, which I don’t get. You can’t buy Dying Light (but you can buy the DLC) on Steam or GOG, but Doom, where you’re ripping apart demons, is ok.
You can now (on June 5th) very easily play most PC games on the Switch 2.
I mean, other consoles support proper KB+M, but it’s not like Paradox is rushing to get their games released on Playstation. Why would the Switch be different, with a worse mouse and no keyboard?
In justifying the $450 price of the Switch 2, Nintendo executives predictably pointed to the system’s upgraded hardware specs, as well as new features like GameChat and mouse mode.
GameChat is truly a revolution. We haven’t used voice chat for games for like 25 years, definitely not.
Nobody asked for the mouse mode, it will probably be used by two games, made by Nintendo themselves, then just be forgotten.
I haven’t paid attention to a lot of lists, but Veilguard might be the outlier here. The game seems to be really divisive. Yesterday I was in a thread on how for someone Veilguard was the last straw, and they’re giving up on Bioware completely, and here the game is the fifth best of the year.
If it’s not just run speed, but reactions in general, it makes sense, because in previous games, your character moves like they’re in molasses.
I didn’t realize this was set in the Pillars of Eternity universe. I might have to check it out, after I’ve played Pillars 2.
I did play on core difficulty (“intended PF experience” or something), but as far as I can tell nothing affects the enemy HP, just how much damage you take (maybe there’s something in the custom modifiers). I guess even with a weak character you can get through on a lower difficulty, but it’ll take ages.
However, even if I used proper builds, I still used my very limited knowledge of these games and systems. If you know what you’re doing, you can probably use better spells or abilities to kill things faster.
Since I got basically no experience with DnD or PF, I’ve used build guides for my playthrough, so I’d like to think they were well built.
As I’ve written in another post, the last third of the game was just a complete slog, with overtuned enemies, that took far too long to kill.
Nothing game breaking for me as well, but tons of small stuff, plus atrocious performance.
Also, in my opinion, the last third of the game was just a complete slog. Enemies had just far too much health. Some of the final fights against trash mobs took as long or maybe longer than the final boss. I wouldn’t call that balanced.
Dunno if you want to count it towards the balance, but the Kingdom Management was also not implemented well at all. In the first half it’s just event after event, no breathing room. The second half it’s constantly waiting, doing nothing, just clicking “next.”
Yeah, 220 hours for mine, including the DLC campaign. Game is a buggy mess though and not properly balanced, especially near the end. As long as WotR improves at least those things, I’d be happy.
I wanted to play this game for a while now, but it’s probably gonna take me like two months to get through, and finding that kind of time is tough, with the gazillions of other games, that I also want to check out.
Now, I’ll definitely wait for this patch and maybe a few bug fixes (since it’s Owlcat), to finally get to this one (hopefully next year).
~250 games testet, about 90% worked without issue.
Some games were hard coded to avoid Intel graphics and would use the AMD iGPU by default (even a newer title like Alan Wake 2 did this), but after disabling the iGPU, most of those were fine.
I think like 10-15 games didn’t work at all or had basically unplayable performance, maybe a few more with graphical glitches, some minor, some more noticeable.
Board game the Chinese players the option to download their account data before shutting down the servers. Whoever did that will (presumably) have the option to upload that data once the services are restored.
Extremely unlikely, Blizzard probably don’t want a bunch of files that have been tempered with. Also, if it’s like the data export you can also do for non-Chinese accounts, it’s just stuff like transaction history, chats, and essentially your profile in a game like Overwatch (match history, stats, etc.).
Afaik neither blizzard or netease saved any of the data. Blizzard didn’t because Chinese players’ data can’t be stored on servers outside of china and netease didn’t because…fuck 'em?
I’ve read the exact opposite. When the servers went down Netease (or Blizzard) announced the accounts would stay and be saved.
Maybe, back then I read that there are two fan models going around and one is better than the other, so who knows. Or how putting a bit of pressure on a certain spot could help, or things like that. I was toying with the idea of ordering a replacement, when the iFixit stuff was announced, but never did it and forgot about it.
So far my friend is mostly emulating older handhelds, so it doesn’t get too hot in the first place, and even if it gets louder it doesn’t seem to bother him for now.
I bought a 512GB LCD on release and barely used it, maybe 50h at most. I just found the fan to be really annoying. Once the OLED was announced and reviewers mentioned it was much quieter, I bought it on a whim and sold my old Deck to a friend for cheap.
The fan noise is massively improved, I pretty much don’t hear it ever. I’m actually using the Deck now, probably already more than I ever did old Deck, and will look at the performance for games on it, before I buy something.
So, even though I’ve had a Deck since launch, I’m still pretty new to it, and can’t say too many other things about the differences. It was still worth it for me.
