Well he is the oldest presidential candidate…
Maybe this will come off as armchair psychology, but I really believe that part of what motivates conservative, and especially far-right sentiment in men is just sexual frustration.
We’ve seen so many instances of Nazis being outed as gay or as chasers, so many incels who blame women for all the ills of the world, and so many guys who have a “blacked” or “white extinction” fetish are staunchly racist.
We can respond in a number of ways to rejection, or any other negative experience for that matter, and some people respond with aggression.
Women don’t find me attractive? Well it must be either their or society’s fault. Or maybe the blacks are at fault for taking all the white women.
I can’t be gay in my religion or conservative social circle? Well the gays must be sinful groomers then.
Once again this is probably just armchair psychology on my part, but this may be part of why we’re seeing conservatism increase among young men as ypunger generations are having less sex.
I remember when scientists were more focused on making AI models smaller and more efficient, and research on generative models was focused on making GANs as robust as possible with very little compute and data.
Now that big companies and rich investors saw the potential for profit in AI the paradigm has shifted to “throw more compute at the wall until something sticks”, so it’s not surprising it’s affecting carbon emissions.
Besides that it’s also annoying that most of the time they keep their AIs behind closed doors, and even in the few cases where the weights are released publicly these models are so big that they aren’t usable for the vast majority of people, as sometimes even Kaggle can’t handle them.
All those ads an pop-ups are really annoying. Printfriendly isn’t perfect but does make the website a bit more readable: https://www.printfriendly.com/p/g/DYjpGu
He’s been doing that ever since his career in media started in the 90s.
Looked up her name on Twitter to see what people were saying about this, that was a mistake 🙄
Go queen!
… I guess?
I still hate liberal politicians though
Worth keeping in mind that polls measuring support for violence come with several caveats. For example a 2021 study assessed how question wording, respondent disengagement and illegitimate answers affected the results, finding that accounting for these factors lowered estimates of support for violence from 18.5% to 2.9%, or at most 6.9%. Even then there are arguments to be made about how social desirability bias and the specific scenarios presented can actually lead to underestimations.

I did something like this when working support at Phillips
I thought it was funny but my colleagues and supervisor were not entertained lol
Yeah while I don’t doubt that noise pollution can affect one’s health I can’t hep but wonder how much of this is just the placebo effect, like with people complaining that 5G towers are giving them migranes.
Don’t a lot of people also keep their tax information as plain text in their PC? If someone’s really worried about that stuff being leaked I think it’s on them to download VeraCrypt or smth, and also obviously not to use ChatGPT for sensitive stuff knowing that OpenAI and Apple will obviously use it as training data.
Maybe they should try using Claude 3.5 Sonnet to write more secure code for their systems. I’ve heard it’s the best LLM out there when it comes to coding 🤡
As they state towards the bottom of the page this specific poll was conducted online:
On June 28, 2024, Data for Progress conducted a survey of 1,011 U.S. likely voters nationally using web panel respondents. The sample was weighted to be representative of likely voters by age, gender, education, race, geography, and 2020 recalled vote. The survey was conducted in English. The margin of error associated with the sample size is ±3 percentage points. Results for subgroups of the sample are subject to increased margins of error. Partisanship reflected in tabulations is based on self identified party affiliation, not partisan registration. For more information please visit dataforprogress.org/our-methodology
While it’s true that polls can vary widely and are sometimes unreliable, it’s worth noting that according to their 2020 retrospective conservative white voters tend to be underrepresented, while liberal voters and activists are overrepresented in their surveys. This is consistent with a previous analysis by FiveThirtyEight showing that in 2019-2020 polls substantially overestimated Democratic performance.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare
It’s a shame that it doesn’t seem to have that many players anymore. It’s a lot like other multi-class shooter games like Overwatch and Paladins, but about three times more crazy and weird, and I had a ton of fun playing it as a teen.
I’ve heard Garden Warfare 2 is pretty good too though, so I’ll consider buying it at some point (when I have money).

I second the Nerts recommendation because when I was a teen I played Ligretto (Basically just a branded Nerts) at one party and we all had a blast. To this day I wish I had the opportunity to play it again, but I’m not a party guy nor do I have that many decks of cards so /shrug
