Even while (begrudgingly) admitting that China has surpassed the US everywhere that matters they just can’t help but squeeze in just enough sinophobia to make the whole thing reek of desperate nationalism.

This isn’t that deep. The US only looks as far ahead as the next fiscal quarter while China plans decades ahead. We were always going to lose this. The competence of our leadership never mattered. China has and will continue to leave the US behind. That is and will continue to happen. Trump just accelerated the timetable.

There is no grand plan. Just an old con man who rode a wave of engineered cultural grievance to power in a Hail Mary attempt to avoid going to prison. Now he’s ripping the copper out of the walls before the ship sinks and he flees to a non-extradition treaty nation.

If you want enthusiastic grassroots support however. That’s gonna cost you actual policy that actually helps people. Here’s some examples. Universal Healthcare. Free college, which you should be supporting anyway if you dont want the country to be left behind the rest of the world. UBI cuz it’s just a good idea and it’s been proven to work. Also we need it because -gesticulates wildly at everything- and …people spending money is good for the economy. Sadly, we’re a capitalist country. And if everyone is broke the house of cards will just unceremoniously collapse.

I know it’s a statistical impossibility that we’re the only life out there. I just don’t believe they’ve ever been here. Since we haven’t been either conquered or uplifted yet.

I want them to win. And they will. Short of global nuclear war they can’t lose. Venture capital can’t even dream of competing with central planning. Not even a question.
