You an idiot. Read beyond the headline and you’ll see that in California activists are being charged for being attention to deplorable conditions in animal farms yet the farms they exposed have no charges against them.

Omegle was a big website that millions of people uses that was created by just one guy. I think that part of the Internet is gone. Nowadays everyone wants something that already established and with how much it takes to run a website. The only people who can afford to run a website are big corporations. It’s a sad state of affairs.

The answer. Privatised surveillance. Of course if anything like setting up ai cameras to monitor people was an official government act they would be uproar so instead they get private companies to make deals with each local municipality. We all know no one really pays that much attention to what happens locally anymore. We are so tuned into the bigger picture that we fall the register the enemy at the gate. We warned about face scans and the constant surveillance in China yet it seems to be quietly becoming a reality in the US as well.

Capitalism is so engrained in us that we never stop to think about what putting our safety into the hands of for profit companies even entails.

Laws need to be made against this shit ASAP. No company has a right to lock people out of their homes.

Saudi Arabia is the second largest shareholder in Twitter (now known as X) and this week a man was sentenced to death for tweets peacefully criticising the Saudi government. The person was the brother of a known political dissident so its likely they were specifically targeted by the Saudi government. Should be much bigger news and Musk should be investigated on this matter. But we all know no one in power cares if Musk is handing people over to the killed.

Sounds like the removal of verifications was a big cause of this. Now anyone can post anything and have the same weight as a verified professional. Musk’s buyout of twitter was nothing more than a billionaire (backed by the Saudi government) launching an attack on the truth itself.

For some the novelty of lemmy dropped pretty quickly. Most reddit users which make up a huge chunk of lemmy users would go days if not, weeks without commenting or posting. You kinda have to factor in that a lot of people are lemmy lurkers that will comment or post once they find something that interests them.

Ok. I’ll keep this short and simple. This a yes or no question btw in case you are wondering. If Putin never gave the order to invade Ukraine would 50,000 people still be alive? Oh, and while we are at if Putin never made the decision to invade what would of happened? The only thing I can think of is that it would make him look weak. Is that worth 50,000 life? You can’t really pin all of societies faults on boomers when there’s so many complex issues at play and so much propaganda machines. Are you hoping for the random 70 year old fella to die so your party wins? You have more reason to hate a executive from the same generation as you than some random boomer. The machinations that brainwash people into voting right wing will just make the next generation vote right wing as well. Letting capitalism divide people is how it wins.
