I did some digging on these also show its an American group paying for it. I’ve reported the group to google a few times for other complete lies.

there’s some instructions in there on how to remove all information that adsense has on you and your browsing history. After doing that i was flooded with ads for dating sites that had porn videos playing over them at a light transparency. Others have been less subtle. Reporting it at best well make it so you stop seeing the ad after a few months but everyone else still does.

I saw a video on this recently. I think it was Wendover.

Though card counting is still possible many casinos have made it very difficult. Most methods require the counter knowing what is left in the deck.

Two methods are just using 3-5 decks and reshuffling the deck after eatch hand. This apprently stops all but the most insanely talented card counters. Some go further using a machine to shuffle the deck in a way players can’t see.

Though it also mentions some players think this cheating for the house so it might not be done at every casino

I think surface level info is fine for an explainer video. That’s kind if the point. He could do a little more to push people towards more detailed sources of info but he’s not worse then most other explainer and he seems to be sourcing things decently.

I watch some of his stuff but I wouldn’t blame anyone for choosing not to. The guys presentation of the research is just annoyingly pretentious and he seems to have a bit of an ego.

This is true. Green party was pretty big in my hometown and the local representative was great. But it was considered a “waste of a vote” to vote on them so everyone left leaning often voted for the liberals out of fear that the conservatives whould get in if they didn’t.

Regardless of what side your on as a Canadian I’d warn you that you need ranked voting for this kind of thing to work. We don’t have that here.

We have one prominently right party and 2 left parties. This heavily skews the votes towards the right as left votes are being split between 2 parties. Often as a left voter you have to vote for the more popular party even if you don’t like them in order to keep the right leaning party from winning.

Ranked voting would fix this issue but neither of the 2 popular parties on eatch side, who can fix this want to fix it. Both the popular left and right parties work to supress all other parties.

If your not getting ranked voting that 3rd party will only exist to split the vote for whatever side its on.

Lol no, but they are segragated blades you can use the slot on the back of one knife to break the blade of another. I can at least be less stingey about keeping them sharp this way. As they are cheap ones the blades do not last very long and rust out with even a tiny amount of moisture.

Probably like 40-50 my rommate has a weird fascination with them. At some point they brought home a box if like 40 of the cheap ones. I assume it was part if some art thing they planed then never bothered with. Now they are all over the apartment.

Whould they even go to real prison? The rich typically seem to hire private security firms to make their home a “prison”. They are under house arrest, but when home is a luxury mansion it’s not justice.

I pretty much only have my domain for my email adress. It’s also a back up plan should my career take another nose dive and I need a portfolio. Gsuite was good for all that.

I’m not quite in the loop with best options for that kinda thing. And I been using the email for contract work for over a decade now. So I don’t want to give that up. Would cloudflare be good for that as well?

I love how companies can be like “you can’t have those people they belong to me”. And that’s somehow normal.

I considered a simular answer, but realized I was given that same advice so often when I needed to hear it. I still ignored it.

Much to our detriment. The "heart"often circumvents all logic and reason. Especially to our younger selves.

Best we can do is try to instill a enough self worth that we become a little more stable. At least in my case I’d have been less willing to change who I am if I actually knew who I was.

I suppose it’s a bit more sensible for news related subs. The reddits ines sre likley using bots to find the news and post it, though such bots may not exist for lemmy yet and its just easier to scrape from reddit.

But then I see somthing like the ask reddit sub on Lemmy. It’s just all of the questions none of the answers and no engagement at all. Some of the content is years old.Why does that need to exist? I can understand the idea of a reddit archive but why use lemmy for it?

I’m also wondering about the ethicacy of it. I’m annoyed at Reddit for not allowing me to delete my old content. There’s a lot of folks threating legal action and such over reddit denying people the right to remove that content. Now we are copying that content. I assume without consent of those who’d posted it, and adding it to our own platform.

Though perfectly legal, is that really a good idea? Is that what we as lemmy users actually want? does this actually improve the platform?

That is good advice. I hadn’t considered that.

Probably moving to a big city from a prondomity Mennonite village I grew up in. I am not a Mennonite myself, not religious either, just grew up in that kind of environment. A tiny unfinished suburb surrounded by miles of corn fields and cows.

Highlights include

• having to idea how public transit worked I was riding the bus without paying for the first few months because I didn’t realize I needed to.

• saw my first homeless people, saw women dressed “imodestly”, and tall buildings. These are not things that bothered me but certainly things I should have seen prior to my 20s. I had no clue how to interact with people outside my bubble.

• having grown up with many siblings and close friends I was hit with a lot of loneliness. Definetly a low point.

• I also had none of the skills needed to survive life on my own in a big city. Schools teach budgeting but they didn’t teach me to avoid scammers, where to shop, how to get places, housing, access to health services ect.

I’m still learning about 15 years later. Now it’s about assertive communication skills, legal knowledge, cultural histories, how to pay respects to indigionous cultures and why its important to do so, im understanding local politics and how to work with it.

Frankly that’s my favorite part of all this. I’m (slowly) learning, and feel like I am growing from being a part of the culture and not in a bubble.
