Not only was he “using” starlink, he was specifically doing it as a promotion to show that it is good for gaming. And even with that being the whole premise, it was still his kneejerk reaction to blame the connection, even though everyone watching knows that can’t be what happened. His ego couldn’t let him blame himself instead of the service he was purposefully trying to promote.
Heh, that is even better. His ego wouldn’t let him blame himself instead of the service he was purposely trying to promote… leading to him doing the opposite.
I’m guessing my wording wasn’t great in the first one. Was intended as a follow-up in the same vein. I can rephrase with more detail if my point came across wrong.
It sure seems like his plan is to basically get rid of every financial support. Once they are all gone, there will pretty much be an immediate revolution since so many people will have nothing to lose then, and then from the rubble left over, the only possible solution that could be implemented quickly enough to restore functionality is a universal mincome.
Since there are currently like 100 different ways someone could qualify for financial support that basically add up to the same thing in effect, just with an insane amount of overhead. Restoring that in any kind of reasonable timeframe would be difficult, especially if the plan is to “accidentally” mess up while rewriting the database and “accidentally” delete all current data. I don’t really know what other outcome to expect with them promising to completely rewrite it from the ground up in such a short time frame.
I do expect them to at least try to get rid of as many social programs as possible, especially the ones directly doling out money. And if they do them one by one, they won’t get very far before people rightfully assume “theirs” might be next, so doing them all at once as a surprise just seems like the only possible way to get rid of them all. And making it seem like an accident is the only chance, slim as it may be, that they have of even possibly getting away with it.
One-third of the population of the United States receives some form of financial aid. 100 million+ people. I think that will 100% be an actual tipping point, even though so many things already should have been the tipping point. And once it tips, there’s gonna need to be an “after”. A universal basic mincome that you automatically qualify for without needing to jump through any hoops, just X amount of money until your income is at least Y amount, then reduced by a percentage/ratio until hitting 0 when your income is Z amount. (Indexed to inflation)
All the tests of a universal mincome have proven that it not only works, but it works better than all current systems. But there are hurdles to implementing it from such a complicated current system, especially in all the cases so far where it was intended to only be temporary as a test. So, basically, one of the only silver linings that might come from what the US is going through right now, is a possible wide-scale implementation of a mincome, and once it is proven stable on a wide scale, more countries might have reason to implement it without bulldozing their whole world first.
He’s bulldozing the way for someone to pave the way to universal mincome being accepted. The main hurdle it needed to overcome was how much beurocracy it would take to consolidate all other programs under one roof. If there are no other programs in the way, it all of a sudden becomes the easiest way to re-establish it as quickly as possible.
Edit: I’m not one for changing posts once they have been read or reacted to, but it seems like my wording is not getting the intended point accross. Trump is doing a horrible thing, that once he is deposed may hopefully at least have a silver lining, if there even is an “after”.
Was their goal to make it feel forbidden so the rebellious kids would ‘secretly’ learn typing?
It’s never been ok to pirate a console that is still on the market. Though, part of that is how rare it has been for emulation to be feasible for a current console. But either way, it has always been demonstrably illegal. And especially in the case of yuzu where they were completely flaunting and charging money to play games that weren’t even released yet. I honestly put most of Nintendo’s current war path on their shoulders. That’s not just riding the backs of giants, that’s climbing into their faces and flicking them… ask any insect, that is a good way to get yeeted to the ground and for the giant to stop tolerating the previously benign presence of the rest of the insects.
Nintendo has definitely done some over reaches, but going after Switch pirates is not a good example of that.
Basically when not playing VR games, it’ll function like an upgrade to the steam deck. Instead of having to look at a screen attached to your hands, further developing the neck pain most people have nowadays from phone games and handheld gaming, you can sit comfortably instead, no matter where you are. And it’ll be able to stream games up to 4k, instead of the 1280×800 of the current steamdeck. When running flat games natively it might be restricted to 1080p, if not artificially, then at least practically.
But it does also play VR games when you want that.
An upside compared to other standalones is that it should be much easier to port older PCVR games to run on it natively. And there are a ton of good old VR games now that have stood the test of time that most people still haven’t gotten to try. And with a bit of work, a low settings version of half-life alyx could probably run natively now. Along-side a potential flat screen release of half-life 3. Who knows. Would be an interesting way to celebrate it’s function. Now that we have solid evidence that Half-Life 3 is actually nearing completion. And a ton of rumours linking it to a similar timeline as Deckard.
The main goal of deckard is more of a Virtual theater screen steam deck. It can also play VR games, but streaming(or playing locally) your flat games to your comfortable recliner is what it does best. The 4 face buttons are hugely important for that. As for the index control, there are so few examples of good ways to use the touch pads, and other headsets are doing full handtracking while holding the controllers completely visually now. So no need for expensive hardware built into the controller anymore, grip and trigger at perfect fidelity and the other fingers at hand tracking fidelity is more than enough. Hand tracking fidelity constantly improves with software updates, too.
If this gets deckard down to a price people are willing to pay, good for all of us, even those of us that would choose to pay more, and odds are there might be a more expensive option too anyway. Maybe even the ability to just use index controls if you got them.
Lol, my client apparently parses markdown in titles, so the hashtag at the start of this headline just made the headline giant.
Awesome, I love the idea of building a working library of dialogue to make use of. Technically mimicry would mean having no actual understanding of the phrases actual meaning so it would have to be coincidental to say something useful in context… but it would be such a fun mechanic I would find some way to hand-wave it into making sense.
Might also be fun to extend the mimicry to physical mimicry too. Maybe picking up something that you have seen X number of times. Though that would add even more data tracking, hehe.
The process of making a game on your own involves failing to make the first 10 games you try to make on your own.
Ultimately, it sounds like you already have a good handle on everything that goes into it, and are just hoping to hear it’s not actually as hard as you think it is… it is hard. Know that going in, and assess if you will be able to do it. But give yourself a bit of benefit, getting most of the way tends to increase your resiliance to the final hurdles.
VR desktop streamers, do the same thing but optionally in multimonitor 4k and don’t have to look at our hands the whole time. Also can play on a recliner comfortably. My neck is in so much better shape since I started using my VR headset to stream instead of a phone or other handheld. Plus the screens are 20 feet away, nice on the eyes. And still take up 80 degrees of my field of view. Not sure what effective size that makes them, but it’s bigger and nicer looking than a theatre screen.
Famed for hating illegal or unlicensed emulation. Well known for using legal, licensed emulation all the time in everything.
Seriously? Is it even possible to not know? Or you just like making people list them?
Here is just the sexual ones.

There’s of course more, but isn’t that already enough?
Unless you wanted Hillary Clinton’s for comparison. She used her personal e-mail address a lot instead of the one she is supposed to use as a high ranking government employee. Her e-mails may, and did, contain classified information. Only the official government e-mail server is intended to be used for sending classified infirmation due to risk of breach by outside individuals. No such breach seems to have occurred, but still a crime to have put them in a position where they weren’t officially as secure as they could have been.
The result of going through 60’000 plus e-mails was that no intentional wrong was done and they recommended no charges.
As in real-life reference. Which started before game of thrones, and is actually what influenced some of game of thrones.
In the stream, he mentions it being tetris gym. And the options screen confirms it. Tetris gym is accepted by the community as faithful in all the ways that matter for being allowed to be used for records. The main thing it patches out are the crashes. It also patches in the ability to run the game as either ntsc or pal, as that makes a huge difference in nes tetris. And critically in dogplayingtetris’s case it allows the ability to disable pausing the game. His controller is well worn, so his start button goes off randomly on it’s own.
This article actually seems pretty uninformed, probably just in a rush to be first to post. Their explanation of the crashes is wrong, and they seem unaware that the speed is actually the same once you pass the first initial batch of levels that used to be considered the “human playable” levels. Of course, not anymore.
Also no mentions of literally the biggest challenge faced, level 235 and it’s need to clear 800 lines instead of the usual 10 to pass it. So it’s 80 levels baked into one. And it’s one of the top 5 worst color schemes for readability to boot. Like, if the game was actually designed to be played this way it would almost like it was made as an intentional final boss, lol. Instead of just being a result of a look-up table eating code that is nowhere near the “table”, and is instead on the floor, or the nearby garbage can… hehe

Mostly what they have said and done, but also largely what they intend to continue saying and doing.
Yeah, but we were hoping for competition that wasn’t worse than google…
Yeah, 3 million trials to catch the thousands of criminals in his own words… or maybe instead of trials first, they could maybe only be rounded up if there is any actual reason to believe they are a criminal in the first place. Then it would only be thousands of trials and all the problems being caused by rounding up 900+ innocent people per 1 criminal, would all of a sudden go away.
