Damn, hackers are being really uncool towards lemmy.world. Hopefully some good can come from this and they can implement robust security systems that help protect Lemmy instances from these types of attacks.

This isn’t a state national guard, it’s a state guard. According to the legislation that created it, the United States federal government has no jurisdiction over the new state guard and cannot nationalize it, meaning they are unable to control it like they can with a state national guard.
I think a lot of us have been there before, it’s part of the learning process. Jimmy will find his way.
You’re absolutely correct. It would need to be done manually and I understand people not wanting to put that effort in, I just feel bad about the information being lost.
Indeed. I at least think they should repost the helpful information here to Lemmy so that users still have access to it, I understand driving traffic away from Reddit but we should keep that useful information open to the community.
Yeah, that tip is applicable for a lot of people who understand what sex is, this isn’t something that really goes away with age in a lot of cases.
I’m not surprised at all, income data is really useful when doing targeted advertising. This kind of sale should be illegal of course, because our tax data should be sensitive in the same legal or medical data is, but I don’t think Meta’s going to see any consequences for this.
It’s because they claim that they don’t actually do any deliveries, they just maintain the tech platform that connects independent contractors to delivery jobs. They do this for legal reasons, because if you think about it all jobs technically just connect people to tasks that they complete.
Oh crap, I forgot which asklemmy I’m on, I’m a dumbass.
Indeed. I’m certain they exist, but it’s a case of needing to research which organizations are reputable and respected for their certifications.
Fully agreed.
Indeed, right now we’re one of if not the largest questions community, even larger than !asklemmy@lemmy.ml, so there are more resources here than other places.
Currently, we’re being a little more lax with the support questions because of how new Lemmy is. Once the platform has matured a bit more, we’ll move to being more strict about enforcing our rules on support questions.
Edit: Ignore me, I’m a dumbass and forgot which instance I’m looking at.
If you are wanting to move into a more programming oriented career, then I would say that while a college degree is useful it is by no means required. One of the things that you could do is complete a certification course and then apply for an entry level position, you’ll take a pay cut but unfortunately that’s common when changing careers. What type of work are you currently hope to move into?
Threads is new but not novel. It’s essentially just Meta Twitter and is using Facebook and Instagram to give it automatic momentum.
Indeed, no one has heard anything yet. It’s very strange, I hope the VLemmy admin is ok.
That’s really cool. This is a good use-case example of Mastadon, the government can run its own official instance for announcements and information without impacting other instances
It could also be that they never implemented custom emoticons, which are what caused the security issue. Even still, I would recommend confirming with your server admin.
I think it was 15 or 16 in the days before it fell.
In all honesty, I can see your comments from lemm.ee. I wonder if lemmy.world is back up now.
