My stepmom’s dad has bragged about never having changed a single diaper for his kids. He sees this as a victory. What a fucking creep.

Idle Thumbs and Important If True feeds both sit fallow in my Overcast. I refuse to delete them in perhaps misguided hopes that one day a seedling will spring anew.
Applies to tires also, and for the same reason.
Asking in case I’m wrong: isn’t it only entrapment if the defendant wouldn’t have pursued the illegal action without the law enforcement playing a part? We can’t be sure from the details given, but by my understanding this would not qualify for entrapment if the accused sought out a contact with the Islamic State, but was funneled to the FBI agent instead, and they already expressed intent to join.
Yeah, I think I did misconstrue the actual issue. SEO might not be as strong, but everything can be searched just as well. Great!
Okay, sounds like I did misunderstand. I’m happy to be wrong, thanks for explaining!
Right, I may be totally misunderstanding the problem.
If it’s just that lemmy needs time and interaction from the community to build that knowledge, then great! No problem. But what I understood was that lemmy’s communities and conversations simply aren’t made accessible to wide-searching like that.
Yes and no. My daily scrolling habit has been moved to lemmy and I haven’t really felt any loss.
However, and this is a big caveat: Reddit remains a huge source of institutional knowledge. Half a dozen times weekly I’ll look something up and the most relevant answer/discussion will be from Reddit. As I understand it, lemmy will never fulfill this need, because it’s not scraped the same way Reddit is? Or perhaps I’ve misunderstood something about the way federation works. If that’s true, it’s a huge blow to the long-term use of lemmy v. Reddit.
The owner was asked if an autism-awareness event could be held at his business. He accepted, in part because he has family members with autism. After the event has gotten rolling, he realizes it’s actually a campaign event for the GOP and tells the guy to fuck off.
Seems like they either deliberately went out of their way to hide what the event really was, or the business owner didn’t really bother to look up who was holding the event and put two-and-two together.
