I replaced the YouTube app on my SO’s phone with a Brave Browser YouTube link (Brave includes both features out of the box) because having to sit through ads when they wanted to show me a video was driving me nuts…
I use Firefox because of tamper monkey, buy Brave is my go to easy solution for friends so I don’t have to explain about installing extras.
Seriously email your IT and/or privacy team at the university level. I work at a university and that would be removed ASAP for sharing PII. If you’re in the US or UK it’s a major violation of your privacy. Unfortunately most IT offices aren’t involved in many of the decisions and many of the people making those decisions are complete ignorant to the situation.
It’s by far the best mobile browser that let’s you run tampermonkey and uBlock on Android and it’s not close. I haven’t found an add-on that let’s me run video/audio in the background, so until then Brave stays installed so that running YouTube with no ads and the phone locked is an option.
Aside from that, Firefox gives fantastic customization options, runs well, and is less vulnerable to attacks specifically because it has a smaller market share and it makes more sense to target Chromium based browsers.
I’m not mad, I just prefer open source software that doesn’t collect my data. What are your favorite things about sync that I can’t get with Jereboa?
What keyboard bug? I haven’t run into it, and I’ve been using it for months.
It’s crazy to me how small the Jereboa usage is. It didn’t collect or share data and has a great interface. What are these other apps giving that makes you want to use them? Genuinely curious on what I’m missing out on.
No non-conforming people were protected by this move.
By taking this down, NexusMods communicated that they care about non-conforming people far more than if they had just said it. They are creating an environment where bigotry is removed rather than accepted. Nobody is saying you can’t be a bigot in private with your game, we are saying if you’re going to be a bigot we don’t want you to do it here with us because we care about the people you are excluding/hurting.
This is the best answer, players are invested after a certain point, but the realization that they don’t like the game comes later in the process. The more you play the game you don’t like the more you’re frustrated with it and the more likely you are to give it a poor rating, especially when the things that are your biggest complaints feel like obvious bug fixes that should have already happened, but continue to exist.
“If you are racist, I will attack you with the North”
That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t regulate predatory practices. Many video games are built on social media and gambling models designed with intentionally addictive features. In not talking about fun features, I’m talking about addictive features. There are panels at game designer conferences you can listen to about this stuff.
