I would think it’s a combination of two things: stage fright / performance anxiety, and just the social load that another humans presence requires; your brain pends some of its processing power on reading their posture and emotions and social ques.

I guess in reading not until c99(see other comment); they just used integers in place of Booleans, in which case your readability statement makes more sense given the historical context

I’m not sure I understand readability? I guess is disambiguates numeric variables if you used 1 and 0. But with true and false available that would seemingly do the same thing. You still have to know what the arguments your passing are for regardless.

I think one advantage lemmy might have is the possibility of expanding the number of sorting metrics allowing users to sort things the way they choose rather than a few monolithic sort options.

Has anyone been able to find the actual audio? I suspect given the participants it’s probably a cringe-fest but it’s disturbing to me that the news is jumping all over it to the point where it’s difficult to actually find the source and listen and do you own analysis.

This seems to be an ongoing problem not just for this story; I’m constantly having to dig to actually find the thing that every news channels talking heads is doing their own half-baked analysis on.

While the iris study is interesting, looking at their dataset the pictures seem to include the area around the eye a little bit, including eye lashes, so after a cursory glance it seems odd that they even titled it as iris. However I didn’t read the full thing so it cold be that they cropped it somewhere. Although they are using large convolutions so a lot of detail is lost.
