  • And when I was in the military we kept having to go out to sea so they could fly helicopters on and off the ship…

Because you train as close to how you’ll fight as possible.

If you’re talking people doing routine patrol flights, sure it’s the same as fighting. But no one is going to an airshow to watch a helicopter casually fly by.

Like, do you have any frame of reference how much it costs to do that shit in a f16 let alone f35? It’s around 10k/hr just got an f16, and that’s not including the pilot or mechanics, just fuel and parts.

It’s not taking your Prius to the grocery store, it’s taking the Lambo on a 12 hour drive for the hell of it.

But like, you all know this isn’t a hypothetical we’re discussing, right?

    It’s literally propaganda:

As recently as 2015, the Department of Defense was doling out millions to the NFL for such things as military flyovers, flag unfurlings, emotional color guard ceremonies, enlistment campaigns, and — interestingly enough — national anthem performances. Additionally, according to Vice, the NFL’s policy on players standing for the national anthem also changed in 2009, with athletes “encouraged” thereafter to participate. Prior to that, teams were not given any specific instructions on the matter; some chose to remain in the locker room until after opening ceremonies were completed. (It’s unclear whether the policy change was implemented as a direct result of any Defense Department contracts.)

In 2015, Arizona Sens. Jeff Flake ® and John McCain ® revealed in a joint oversight report that nearly $5.4 million in taxpayer dollars had been paid out to 14 NFL teams between 2011 and 2014 to honor service members and put on elaborate, “patriotic salutes” to the military. Overall, they reported, “these displays of paid patriotism [were] included within the $6.8 million that the Department of Defense (DOD) [had] spent on sports marketing contracts since fiscal year 2012.”

I guess it was a decade ago, some people might not remember I guess.

  • I don’t think Canada wants to hurt so many innocent people because Trump runs his mouth

If that’s true, that’s backwards logic.

Because Trump is hurting a lot more people, and while unlikely if his voters feel the pain they will realize it’s not working. Congress can hold trump accountable, but they won’t until well into the “find out” phase.

So our traditional allies shielding the American people from our own government may seem like the ethical move, but only if focused on today and ignoring the future…

Which is how we ended up here.

Long term, America needs consequences yesterday, but we’ll have to settle for today

    Quick edit:

Sure some people may have voted for Trump but a whole lot didn’t. They don’t deserve that.

As close as majorities are, a handful of seats getting pressured is all it would take. You think there ain’t a single red district getting their power from Canada?

You think Montana is a deep blue area?

It really doesn’t take many people to switch to take congress back, but if we never pressure them, they’ll never fold.

  • Most democrats are right wingers and would rather vote for the Nat-C’s then allow poor people more opportunities.

Dem voters? According to polling that’s false.

The primaries always seem to prove that.

The last primary saw the old guard DNC remove all delegates from an entire state…

They also try to call primaries before the amount of states voted reaches double digits, fraudulent primaries don’t prove anything about voters

Martin is lying thrugh his teeth when he says this isn’t about keeping the thumbs off the scales.

(Assuming you typo’d because he said this is explicitly about keeping thumbs off scales)

So you’re one of those people who believe his entire political career has been a long con for this exact moment? Like, just because you didn’t know his name till he became chair doesn’t mean he just appeared out of the blue.

If you want to see how he leads a party, look at Minnesota, which became a progressive stronghold under his watch.

He and everyone else will support lazy “centrists” (which are actually far-righters) because they don’t give a fuck about stopping the Nat-C’s.

    Why?

As I just said, he has had a long public career where he’s literally done the opposite.

He’s fine with incumbents losing primaries, he just doesn’t think the party should have a say in who wins a primary…

  • It already happened…

We threw the old guard out of the DNC months ago, that’s why the media suddenly became ok with bad things being said about the DNC.

And before anyone claims Martin is fighting Hogg or other progressives, you should read this article: https://www.sctimes.com/story/news/politics/2025/04/25/dnc-chair-martin-gives-david-hogg-ultimatum-on-challenging-incumbents/83276026007/

“No DNC officer should ever attempt to influence the outcome of a primary election whether on behalf of an incumbent or a challenger,” Martin said Thursday during a conference call.

    And:

The chairman said voters should decide who primary nominees are, and that this change is not about shielding incumbents or boosting challengers.

“I am a huge fan of David Hogg, and I’m glad he’s a part of our officer corps, but it’s important for us to maintain the trust that we have built with Democratic voters and to keep our thumb off the scale as party officers,” Martin said.

That’s it, and it’s something we should all agree with. Especially progressives because in a fair fight progressive policy always wins.

The entire reason the old guard sucked so much, is they kept their thumbs on every primary scale. We don’t have to do the same to beat them, we just need a fair primary.

  • There’s a very good chance we see justice now that the neoliberals are out of the DNC. They didn’t want to hold Republicans accountable because then people would expect neoliberals to be held accountable as well.

The people want them held accountable, and they’ll vote accordingly. With a fair DNC that’s the candidate we’ll get. And without a neoliberals being shoved down America’s throats, winning elections are easy.

People don’t blame Biden’s admin enough for refusing to hold trump accountable for all the shit from his first term. It wasn’t just bad then, it depressed turnout and let trump back in.

Thankfully rational people control the DNC again.
