  • They’re not. One can join any instance they like. But its like “what brand of toilet paper is someone to buy when they move out?” Thats for you to figure out. Ask someone, try a couple and settle for what helps you most.

That said, account migration would be nice although the possible issues are pretty brutal. An account is mostly a bunch of posts, comments and subscriptions. Reposting them would be fatal, relinking them would be dangerous. Only the subscriptions would be easy to move and i think that exists already.

I see your point. But imo its technically not really feasible.

  • Android is not open source in its final form. The base is open source. First step to privacy is checking if you can use something like lineageos or graoheneos. They both include android open source project (aosp) as a base and build on top. Graphene only works on pixel phones and lineage has a variety of phones you can put it on. Dont install play services and use fdroid for most apps. Some apps you will need aurora (play store but anonymous) which is a last resort.

I use fennec on lineageos which works quite well. I have ublock (recommend) and noscript (optional because pretty drastic).

Let me know if you need more help.

    1. There are efforts to build emoloyee owned businesses around the world
    2. The system is pitted towards accumulation through antisocial behavior which is absent in democratic companies, hence they’re disadvantaged
    3. Communists and anarchists are revolutuonists, not reformists. The reason is that reform makes the inherently cruel system easier to bear and abolishment less likely.
    4. Some want to go the reformist route to try if it is actually achievable
    5. Most importantly and very evident in the US: 100 yrs of reform can be rolled back in one day. We’re seeing that reform is pointless.

  • After many careers and much money earned and spent, I now try to go by „ikigai“. Its a japanese theory and teaches you to be aware of what it is that you want, what makes you money, what the world needs and what you‘re good at, basically. This is how I went from a very well paid but soul sucking job to a lesser paid but much more fulfilling work.

For me it was building computers and the stuff around it. Its fun and it makes decent money if done right.

    Good luck!
