0·1 year agoSitting here reading about sail boats being easier to maneuver in harbors cause of bow thrusters, after having dealt with major prop walk just the other day in high winds while docking. The trick is keeping water moving past your rudder. Once your down to a knot or under things get dicey. Even with thrusters.

4·1 year agoSerious question here as I’ve been debating moving all smart home stuff to either its own vlan (never done this before) or a different wireless network. I’ve got some POE cams that run through Scryoted on my nas to get into homekit. Is this all possible if the NAS is on a different network? Would I then have to move all my HomeKit hub devices (Apple TV, HomePod mini, etc) then also have to move?

1·1 year agoSorry I’m not really familiar with this stuff. Could I run Unreal Tournament in Wine… via a Linux install? I’m stuck with intel MacBook hardware at the moment and really don’t want to go back to dual boot windows.

1·2 years agoThe notes being sync’d locally is exactly what would have allowed me to remain productive for that meeting. It sounds like Notion has this ability today, which is good to hear. In this example local access wasn’t yet an option. This was a few years ago though, and I’ll stop bringing this up as a gap since it no longer applies.

271·2 years agoThey list Notion, but IMO Obsidian is the better path. Lack of offline access to data is a big risk to using Notion, and what made me switch to Obsidian after being bit by internet access issues keeping me from being able to use my notes during a critical meeting. Hard no for Notion ever since.

10·2 years agoAnother +1 for Obsidian. Will never go back. For anyone running into Notion, it doesn’t work offline (that I last checked.) bit me in the ass one time. Obsidian is all markdown locally available.

34·2 years agoThe thumbnail shows Apple CarPlay, but in my limited understanding of all this, the car wouldn’t have access to anything in that ecosystem. Situation still sucks though, but anyone know of my understanding is right? I heard it described as the car screen is just a glorified monitor for the phone.

Same, except I lift with my teenage son and daughter. We got a power rack in the garage and now they drag me out to it with them. We’re all feeling better about ourselves!
