For me, my personal projects are generally MIT licensed. I generally don’t like “restrictions” on licenses, even if those “restrictions” are requiring others to provide their source and I want as many people to use my projects as possible, I don’t like to restrict who uses it, even if it’s just small/home businesses who don’t want to publish the updated source code. Although, I admit, I’m not a huge fan of large corporations potentially using my code to generate a profit and do evil things with it, but I also think that’s not going to be very common versus the amount of use others could get from it by having it using MIT who might not be able to use it otherwise with AGPL.
With that said, though, I have been starting to come around more to AGPL these days.
He’s right. We don’t need maps bigger than Skyrim, we just need content and good core gameplay loops. Being hugely moddable like Skyrim really helps too.

I’ve been tempted to try out other distros, but honestly, when it works as well as it does for me, it’s too hard for me to give it up for something that might not be as stable of an experience.
I agree, but, to be fair, WINE is not an emulator, it’s a translation layer. It may seem like it doesn’t matter but it’s an important distinction.

I use Ubuntu because it’s the most popular and well-supported.
I’m going to be switching to Mint at some point because it’s basically a community-run fork of Ubuntu and I don’t trust Canonical anymore, but it’s hard to justify installing my OS from scratch considering I’ve been using Ubuntu since 2017.
I recently ordered a Thinkpad T14 Gen1 with an R7 4750U, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD and you better believe I’m going to be putting Mint on that as soon as I get it.

FWIW, Photoshop and Illustrator generally work very well through Wine, not sure about CAD so I can’t comment on that.
In general though, yeah, if you have to use some super proprietary Windows-only software, you very well may be out of luck for Linux. In which case, yeah, you have to put up with Windows and jump through whatever hoops Microsoft wants you to jump through.
Yeah, Google Cache does seem like it has been gone for years. I can’t even recall the last time I was able to use it.

I think I tried DamnSmallLinux in a VM around like 2008 or something which I thought was really cool, then I tried Fedora which I didn’t really like, then I tried Ubuntu which I really liked and still do, although I’m going to switch to Mint at some point because I prefer the idea of having a community-owned distro.
