Two years, then the drive exploded a couple weeks ago and I rebuilt it just now. Doesn’t work out of the box, X11, does, so I’ve never looked into it.

Every time I build a new box or do an upgrade, I try selecting Plasma on Wayland from the login screen. Every time it doesn’t work, I select X11, and never think of it again for another six months to two years.

I’d have to say it’s the mind control that bothers me the most. When I cut the cord to my TV way back when, it really felt like most people lived in an ersatz reality where people only did things they saw in TV commercials. Whatever they see on TV is “real” and anything that capital doesn’t have an interest in promoting to them is “weird.”

Jesus, the “plandemic” explanation for why the Internet is dying. The Internet IS clearly dying, but this is stupid. Even if we got rid of all the bots and AI, the Internet would still be dying, because open protocols are not as exploitable as walled gardens. The value of capital in the world overwhelms the value of human labour and human interest, and all our social structures conform to the needs of capital over time.
