So the answer is fried into a crisp
If you’re here, there’s still hope for the internet
Don’t let it fall

Remember when they were saying, “We’re the ones who actually tried to pass a bill to crack down on immigration, but Trump blocked it.” The Democrats actively downplayed the threat that Trump posed by trying to claim that he was all talk.
If I remember in the news cycle this bill was a pretty minor thing. The overall message I got was still mainly Democrats = immigration friendly, path to legalization, Republicans = throw these criminals out, though ofc the news I got may not be representative.
Also yes Democrats may have claimed some things about republicans, but on the flip side Republicans also claimed constantly that democrats are softies letting every one and their mother in, so it sort of cancels out.
Counterpoint, heaven probably has lots of Emacs

To echo my other answer, I’m sure I could get it running, I just dislike using tools that are significantly more complex than I need.

I don’t know a ton about Gitea, but I’ve recently starting looking for a simple git server + decent web UI
Gitea and Forgejo are the main recommended ones, but they both seem overly complex. (3D File previews?? Who needs that?)
That’s not the issue here. And that relies entirely on them being implemented well.
Just like the web
Half the changes in Linux are also editing random config files, so it’s about the same
I don’t see how being good with computers helps
Tbh it kinda is, because the browser gives the end user more control, since you have extensions and access to the underlying html. You can get around most stupid UIs with little effort, but on desktop you’re doomed
You can. I’ve had it off for years. It just needs a registry update, and persists across updates.

It’s so annoying, because both are technically grammatically correct, but the current one just sounds the opposite
OCR was AI.
Anyway today’s models are measurably better especially when you go beyond simple text on a clean page.

If you want the answer to the headline
though they were upset with their own Republican members of Congress, they were also fed up with the Democrats in Washington who are failing to fight back against the cuts that will put their lives in danger.
Across the three town halls, the same questions kept coming up: What are Democrats going to do? What can I do? It’s critical that our party recognizes that people feel angry and want change.

Should be enough to hold 60k rows

Sqlite can easily handle millions of rows. Don’t sell it short

I keep hearing about how modal editing is faster and I would like to switch to a more performant editor.
Honestly I’ve yet to hear a good argument for this. It feels like such a major investment to switch to vi-like editors, I need a pretty good argument before considering it
Also a good argument for “why does it matter”? Speed of editing is rarely a bottleneck when editing code. If it is, you might want to consider why your code is so verbose and repetitive to make it so

Not federated, but distrubuted github https://radicle.xyz/
Universally derided
lol try looking outside lemmy. 90% of people still just use it and don’t care
I’m going to be honest, I have no idea how open source works. I can’t imagine maintaining anything more than a tiny library that I can ignore six days of the week.
Also: open source relies on good jobs. You can only do it if you have a well paid low stress job with good hours. Those have been in short supply recently.
I think the free time covid gave, followed by the free time the layoffs gave, and AI have been patching / hiding the fact that the core model of open source is completely unsustainable in its current state.
