I think for OP it would be better off with a Framework laptop. It makes more sense in the long run.
Linux on ARM is great for SBC servers but not so good on the graphics stack. As @Vittelius@feddit.org pointed out Snapdragon SOCs are still lackluster. I’m sure Framework will have ARM in their lineup in the future (there’s already a RISC-V mainboard) while support for these CPUs keep improving.
On the other hand, i recently bought a 6 years old lenovo, installed Fedora KDE and it all just works, more importantly for me power management is no longer an issue. It will never be on the level of the newest Apple silicon though.

NixOS is the sort answer. It’s reproducible across hardware. But I’ve never tested it.

Do you have desktop or laptop?
For desktop, I recommend getting an HDD for storage. They’re cheaper, I bought a 4tb Seagate Ironwolf for less than 100€.
I also have a 1tb nvme, where I store things that require fast reads like my gaming collection while the system is installed in an SSD. (The parts were not bought at the same time). For laptop, you might want to stick to what you have inside and just get a good external USB. The usual brands are still good and I think prices have flatten across the industry.

Overall, we find that participants who had access to an AI assistant based on OpenAI’s codex-davinci-002 model wrote significantly less secure code than those without access. Additionally, participants with access to an AI assistant were more likely to believe they wrote secure code than those without access to the AI assistant. Furthermore, we find that participants who trusted the AI less and engaged more with the language and format of their prompts (e.g. re-phrasing, adjusting temperature) provided code with fewer security vulnerabilities. Finally, in order to better inform the design of future AI-based Code assistants, we provide an in-depth analysis of participants’ language and interaction behavior, as well as release our user interface as an instrument to conduct similar studies in the future.

iOS is a key component in apple’s business and I’m not sure this won’t set a precedent. I think we need competitiveness in industry, albeit a fair one.

The operating system that runs most servers, a lot of them doing web cloud and networking, with high levels of security (developed by security companies) is open source, the *BSD distributions and also Linux.
But I also have doubts if this is the right move.
