I had been holding onto ComicRack for years and really loved it for scraping and generating tags before adding to Komga. I was a happy camper when i found ComicTagger.

After a decade of using the bare minimum vi modes I just yesterday discovered I could use visual mode to jointly indent multiple lines.

I will still prefer pycharm every day of the week over vim, but yesterday I needed to modify code on a server and rebuild some docker containers. I couldn’t be arsed setting up my local env, making a merge request etc and was pretty impressed that a combination of screen, vim, docker compose and git - all available via SSH, was a complete toolset for getting an emergency change deployed and an app running again.

Also curious how you did this. Seems like a big job to wipe and reinstall with btrs

I won tickets from the radio to see the premiere of Seven when I was 12. Glad I saw such a high quality high impact thriller so early. Watching Pitts character struggle with his decision at the end and trying to work out if his choice was right. Or consider the possibility there was no such a thing as a right choice. Amazing experience.

That being said, I wouldn’t recommend that 12 year olds go see Seven.

I absolutely fail to see the utility of having a user called Bob and bob, or a dir called Downloads and downloads. Capitalisation makes sense in code - at a glance I can know I’m looking at a Class or a var, but for system administration it has only ever wasted time, and not once made anything easier.

Obligatory FUTO keyboard recommendation. I liked Swiftkey - but not enough to defend the idea of an online keyboard.

I can see the use case, and that some people might find this useful (not to mention many agencies and ad companies). But enough was enough, for me at least. Linux Mint rocks. Can’t see myself going back to Windows.

After seeing this thread, and the Linux wallpaper engine repo, I think I’m gonna boot into Windows and record wallpapers I like as videos, then set them as backgrounds in linux. I’m gonna be on x11 until cinnamon updates to waylan

Not exactly advanced, but I missed the super+P shortcut when switching from desk and monitor to sofa and TV. Made a couple of one line shell scripts that call Xrandr then bound them to keyboard shortcuts.

I just finished doing this a few minutes ago and I had better luck. I left my drives plugged in. Booted to mint USB. Made sure I knew which drive was the empty one using the Disks app. Ran the installer and chose the option to erase disk instead of alongside. Set my BIOS to boot from new disk, and grub let’s me choose between windows and Linux.

My laptop on the other hand, was not a good time. It shipped using the raid controller, so mint couldn’t see the second drive. And windows freaked out at the change of disk controller and I couldn’t recover. 2 operating system installs for the price of one 🫠

Mint cinnamon 21, then upgraded to 22.

I wasnt thrilled about upgrading to win11 - it adds an irritating layer of stuff that I didnt want or need. The ads and telemetry bugged me too. I was probably going to reluctantly upgrade at some point though.

But then recall was announced and I realised how much worse it could get. Been really happy with the switch to Linux.

Just did a timeshift then upgraded and it went perfectly. Had to disable a ppa but the upgrader even did that for me.

I only recently came over from Windows and am very impressed - most Windows upgrades go less smoothly than this.

You Must Build a Boat and Triple Town are simple but excellent. Slay the Spire is incredible - can’t recommend it enough.
