love mine I got on craigs for cheap. works great and upgraded to 32G with memory from my old dead laptop.

I’m following the progress of nixos on snapdragon, but its still a bit early for me. Audio kind of working but might damage your speakers, webcam not working, crashing on 64G version but not 32G, etc. Also some funny business about needing windows for firmware or something. These issues are getting resolved but aren’t completely solid yet IMO.

Don’t know where things stand on the more mainstream distros but I’m guessing its probably similar.

Loving my T480 I got recently. Performance is meh but upgraded the memory to 32g and works good enough. Plus it was cheap on craigslist so I don’t have to worry about it too much.

My current desktop is xmonad + xfce in no-desktop mode. Almost no configuration in xmonad, all the stuff like monitor layout and mouse props is handled by xfce. And yes my laptop that I used it on for 6-7 years is now broken (ish) so I’ve already unlocked this acheivement.

I do feel slightly guilty about not moving to wayland, but I’m not sure how that would improve my experience at all. I did hear xfce is almost there on wayland, so maybe I can move to sway + xfce on wayland at some point.

Out there somewhere, but not at jawg.io unless you’re using Street Complete. I mean I’ve heard worse and its probably no big deal, but best to be transparent about it so users can make an informed decision.

Contrast with OSMAND, where I downloaded my entire state and I can use the app without internet access at all.

Its gonna know what tiles you’re downloading and thereby your approximate location.

F-Droid says this has “anti-features”:

What is that about and is it ok? Would my collected data be going to a non-free enterprise? How exactly is the data used, does it go back to openstreetmaps?

Some assholes gave congresscritters a bunch of money to get their businesses a cozy monopoly and special treatment. They were seeing AI as a profit center they could corner the market on thanks to govt-industry collusion. Looks like ginormous data centers and export controlled GPU cards may not be as essential to AI research as thought, and now the emergency is their stock is tanking.

I used to keep a text file in each project, with todo items at the top and a ‘done’ section at the bottom. File gets too big, start a new file.

Now I use a note taking program that stores markdown notes with links in between them. Kind of the same idea, mostly, some notes are to-do items and others are lists. I have about 10000 notes in there.

Elect lawmakers that would pass single payer, like they have in europe. However, this is an unrealistic expectation in our modern political landscape. So we need to change the political landscape to make that possible.

• find a way to dismantle the right wing propaganda machine, or make one as powerful but not a fountain of lies. Difficult since the right wing has the full support of the billionaire owned news media. They are pros who have studied pyops inside and out and excel at it.
• join the democratic party and attempt to overthrow its pro-rich leadership. difficult. Is it really a democratically run institution?

create alternative orgs

create coops and/or nonprofits to provide better options than predatory insurance companies. maybe easier because its grassroots and small compared to changing our national leadership. There’s a danger of genuinely helpful institutions being outlawed due to mainstream medical lobbying.

direct action

we’ve already seen how successful propaganda of the deed can be. but will it actually produce change, or just lead to repression? it has at least communicated the extent to which Americans are disgruntled - not just the deed itself, but the overwhelmingly positive reaction to it.

general strikes, boycotts, other demonstrations might be a possibility. you need an effective campaign to get people on the same page.

Hmmm yeah I have learned a ton of fiddle tunes. Does it count as hoarding when its in your head?

Playing music. Sure some people can collect guitars or whatever, but really that’s a separate hobby from actually playing.

That the Big Bang is just one of many bangs

Recently updated a nixos machine that was on the shelf for five years or so. A few options and packages had been renamed, fixed those, upgrade completed with zero problems.

I wasn’t planning on it, my GF bought the tickets without asking me about it, and didn’t know about my pal being into the band. But my friend figured I was the one who left her out. Plus, not everyone gets invited to everything, hey I’m dating someone here. Called me up and berated me about being a bad friend without saying what it was she was mad about. I prefer not to have friends that use that kind of rhetoric.

Mad she didn’t get invited to a concert my GF bought tickets to. Welp
