I used QEMU but I don’t think it’s possible anymore. I had to use an older version of OSX (I think I tried 3-4) but that version is no longer supported by XCode.
Yes, and the worst part is that XCode is only available on OSX.
I once had to make an iOS app once and didn’t have a Mac so I developed the entire thing in a VM. There was no video encoding, the FPS was in the low single digits, which made it very difficult to even type. So I ended up writing the code using VSCode through SSH through Wireguard connected to the VM on the host machine, which actually worked surprisingly well. But hey, the app did work in the end.
It’s okay, but it’s a bit slow and dynamic typing in general isn’t that great IMO.

I have been using Grist a lot and it has been working quite well. I don’t like Python that much, but it’s a lot better than the functions in Excell.

That’s unlikely, the additional R&D cost probably won’t weigh up to the costs incurred by the small minority that removes it.
It works well when you want to install software that is not compatible with your distro, but it is not a great security measure since it integrates with your host system instead of acting as a sandbox.
Isolation and sandboxing are not the main aims of the project, on the contrary it aims to tightly integrate the container with the host. The container will have complete access to your home, pen drive, and so on, so do not expect it to be highly sandboxed like a plain docker/podman container or a Flatpak.
