Central authority is a tool. In different hands it does different things, but if you disarm yourself you’ll lose.

If you do not choose your leaders they will choose themselves. We tried the whole leaderless, decentralized anti-authority thing throughout the 2010s. At best you might be able to collapse the central authority of the currently existing government regime, but what comes after that is always much much worse: civil war, invasion, or an even more repressive government regime. But, more likely, the movement will just collapse because it lacks the structure to actually sustain itself.

We need to be centralized and we need to be ready to assert our authority when the old one is destroyed, or we will lose.

You clearly want to wait around for the Courts to solve everything so you don’t have to do anything. I don’t know you, but I know your type. The only political actions you have ever taken are voting, signing petitions, and maybe donating. All stuff that requires no effort and carries no risk.

I believe in the power of organized strikes combined with mass protests. That’s what works and what forces Courts rule in our favor. That’s hardly being a doomer.

Bush was forced onto us by the Supreme Court in a judicial coup that basically set us on our current trajectory. Trump has never won more than 50% of the vote, even this time around he only got 49.9%

In a democratic country this shit wouldn’t happen. Elections have always been dubiously free and fair in this shithole.

I’m in my 30s, hardly a kid. I’ve watched this shithole country get worse and worse my whole life, and I am beyond convinced that we will only stop it with political actions that go far beyond the ballot box. You’re going to have to get your hands dirty.

If we’re allowed to vote for the next president you might as well, I know I will, but stop pretending it is nearly good enough.

If they let us vote again then we might as well do it, but at the rate things are going they might just rig the election if they don’t cancel it.

Be suspicious of anyone who tells you that voting is going to solve this problem. They aren’t going to let you vote them out of power.

By this standard, the US is still a democracy. Leaders are still voted into power and that isn’t going to change.
