Another example would be Trump saying that US farmers now have unprecedented access to the UK market for sales but the US uses growth hormone which is banned in the UK and Europe. It’s very unlikely they’re going to designate a non growth hormone section of their farm just to ship beef overseas.

Which would only be financially sound if for some reason there is significant demand for American beef in the UK which… Why would there be?

Services for sure. The US has a massive surplus with the rest of the world on services which intentionally doesn’t get brought up because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

The American public has been so propogandized into thinking the US is inherently antifascist (as a holdover from WW2) that even their educated can’t recognize it happening in front of them.

For all people outside the US please take a close look at your subscriptions. Amazon, Netflix, Uber, YouTube, HBO etc. That is all money being funelled into the US. Please also think about where you spend your attention. Looking at Instagram everyday pumps ad revenue into Meta. America has a massive trade surplus with the world when it comes to services. A deliberate effort to unsubscribe from these services would send message.

I’m not saying cut yourself off from the world… But weigh your options.

I think those outside the US figured it was only a matter of time. The US voting population has only become more disengaged and the country has created and is the epicenter of most social media misinformation campaigns.

The US pulled itself out of the great depression first through regulation via the new deal and then by selling military equipment to allied nations during WW2 (essentially leveraging its geographical isolation during the war). Its been addicted to making and selling military equipment since then, in part due to the cold war but I think we can all agree there have been a few wars along the way that were essentially treated as test runs.

Hoover’s nearly 50% tariff on agriculture stretched the depression out by a few years. If we take history as any indication, tariffs are typically either a buildup to complete economic collapse or to a public bailout. One of those seems more likely than the other now. What would a 21st century ‘New Deal’ even look like?
