For 666$, no physical game copy for the PC ?
Let’s not act like anybody on PC cares about discs anymore. Besides, there are a million ways you can play Doom at this point.

And also the joycon already has strong magnets inside of it that would probably intefere with hall effect sticks. It’s not a silver bullet.

The PvP game landscape is just really sad at this point. I have been playing some Deadlock with friends and there’s a cheater almost every other game. It’s mindboggling to me how there are so many people that would pay money just to ruin the game for everyone else.

This is the dumbest list I’ve ever seen. Are they intentionally messing with people? How is a game that just came out “most influential”? What did Minecraft influence other than half-baked clones? Shenmue provided the blueprint for open world games and, what, Ocarina of Time didn’t?
BAFTA continuing their streak of being on my black-list for being total nonsense.

Because MicroSD Express cards are more expensive. Saved you a click.

Discord is a terrible format to manage large, complex communities and projects
Terrible how, though? That’s exactly what it gets right. You have easy-to-setup roles and channel accesses, onboarding experiences for people joining a larger server, a huge ecosystem of bots for various purposes, etc.
okay, it is bad for not being indexable, but it’s good at what it does and it’s popular for a reason.

Yeah I remember voicing this concern when all online communities seemed to be going to discord and people seemed to mainly laugh at me in response at the time.
Because there hasn’t been a single proper alternative until very recently, and even then they’re not as user friendly.
Same here. If you build up layers of oil and stuff on the basket it’s never coming out. It’s not a big deal IMHO.

HuggingChat is open source and lets you use DeepSeek.
Very misleading, it lets you use the lighter, watered-down version (Deepseek 32B) compared to the large impressive model they have (Deepseek 671B)
Making a dumb tweet doesn’t make you a fascist and doesn’t invalidate the years of hard work people put into a non-profit swiss company, you should get over yourself.

People keep meaning different things when they say “Generative AI”. Do you mean the tech in general, or the corporate AI that companies overhype and try to sell to everyone?
The tech itself is pretty cool. GenAI is already being used for quick subtitling and translating any form of media quickly. Image AI is really good at upscaling low-res images and making them clearer by filling in the gaps. Chatbots are fallible but they’re still really good for specific things like generating testing data or quickly helping you in basic tasks that might have you searching for 5 minutes. AI is huge in video games for upscaling tech like DLSS which can boost performance by running the game at a low resolution then upscaling it, the result is genuinely great. It’s also used to de-noise raytracing and show cleaner reflections.
Also people are missing the point on why AI is being invested in so much. No, I don’t think “AGI” is coming any time soon, but the reason they’re sucking in so much money is because of what it could be in 5 years. Saying AI is a waste of effort is like saying 3D video games are a waste of time because they looked bad in 1995. It will improve.

Especially when random piped links break on a regular basis or the instance shuts down and makes older posts way more annoying to browse.
As always, if you want to use those frontends I recommend LibRedirect: https://libredirect.github.io/ . But yes, post the genuine links for everybody else.

I don’t know if this was requested before but I really want there to be a way to see all comments throughout crossposted threads. It sucks that there are so many crossposts that have like 1-2 comments each. I want to see all discussion about a post at the same time.

Their problem is that these answers affect their bottom line.
It’s more complicated than that. Adding friction and paywalls will quickly kill their userbase, requiring a proof of identity or tracking users is a privacy disaster and I’m sure many people (especially here) would outright refuse to give IDs to companies.
They’re more like a compromise than a real solution. Even then, they’re probably not foolproof and bots will still manage.

Not even the biggest tech companies have an answer sadly… There are bots everywhere and social media is failing to stop them. The only reason there aren’t more bots in the Fediverse is because we’re not a big enough target for them to care (though we do have occasional bot spam).
I guess the plan is to wait until there’s an actual way to detect bots and deal with them.

It genuinely doesn’t matter. Your FPS will be almost the same regardless of what distro or desktop environment you use. It might matter on VERY low end devices like ones with 4gb of RAM, but other than that, just use whatever you’re comfortable with.
The point of a gaming distro isn’t performance but just setting up everything you need like drivers and important apps that could be useful in gaming - like Lutris and mangohud and stuff.

I notcied the new update as soon as it dropped. The devs really did a fantastic job, everything about the UI is cleaner and easier to use.
That’s what Microsoft wanted. Me and a friend bought a month of game pass to play through Oblivion and Doom Dark Ages then unsubscribed. I doubt they’re going to keep doing day 1 releases in the long run because this might be hurting their game studios.
