I think both can be true. I just mean if we’re talking about a company paying for Microsoft Office vs LibreOffice.

Probably better to think of spending their money on an open ecosystem, instead of just using something for “free”. If software products have sufficient funding they can better improve the products and can continue to exist - without some form of monetisation most wouldn’t still be around.

1·1 year agoI’ve been playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance for the last few weeks and have found the balance to be pretty spot on. At first the world seems massive, and you have to travel around on foot, then eventually you get a horse and can also auto travel between locations. I think they really nailed the balance in that game.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•How do you have your back buttons set up?
1·1 year agoPlaying heaps of Kingdom Come: Deliverance at the moment, I have one set to toggle Up and B for autorun, and another to take a screenshot. I’m sure I’ll find more uses the longer I have it.

KDE@lemmy.kde.social•Looks like the donation notification is working.
1·1 year agoI thought it was good to see to be honest. None of this just conjures itself out of thin air, and it’d be worse if they had no other way to get money except sell out to some corporate entity.
Some people don’t even think about donating, not that they don’t want to but it hasn’t even occurred to them.
A gentle reminder on occasion is completely acceptable and uses no dark patterns to get you to donate.

I’m guessing the + + in the middle returns NaN
