So in the 90s you bought a couple of years old at most 9 years old, and your comparison is buying a car now in 2024 that is 18 years old, for twice what you bought your car in the 90s.
300-400 for an average priced car plus 200-400 of car insurance
Car insurance is getting super expensive even more so for younger folks. My renewal came in with GEICO and they raised my 6mo premium from $2500 to $3300. So I got a bunch of quotes from different companies all of them were around $3500-$4000 matching the same coverage. It’s insane.

You can use the terminal commands to automate tasks, build cicd etc. Navigating file tree and performing tasks is much quicker once you get the hang of it. Lastly it translates well on all distros and even on Mac, or windows with wsl or cygwin
I feel like most retailers also mark up the prices a few months before than just bring it down to retail price
If changing your user agent to Chrome on Firefox fixes it that justification won’t fly
Can confirm, bought a Dell latitude 4790 which is a corporate machine refurbished for $270. It’s super powerful for the price, runs Fedora perfectly.
I bought a refurbished dall latitude 7490 for like 270$. For the price it’s a powerful machine, 16gb ram and i7 processor. Installed fedora on it and I’m in love with it. For the price it puts out the power I need for software development.
151·2 years agoThis week I bought a used Dell latitude 4790 for 300$ on Amazon and installed fedora on it. I love it! So light weight and customizable. I wish I had tried it sooner
Yeah sounds like it might be a fun project to try it out with a pi but it’s not realistic for sharing outside of my household
