  • I appreciate the reply but I cannot stand those moldable ones that are like ramming a lump of blu-tack into your ears xD I find the opposite to be true that they don’t provide as much sound insulation and they end up falling out due to the movement of your body as you work. At least that is my experience with them.

The foam ones I do use tend to be of slightly higher quality and for the most part I don’t find them irritable apart from every now and then when they cause me some pain as I mentioned before. 85 % of the time they are good though and will stay in place for 8 hours plus without me having to fuck around.

Generally I’m happy with the foam ones I get through work, it is just that 15% of the time when they can cause me some pain that I would like to alleviate.

I have also tried the silicone ear plugs that are sort of ribbed with a more solid centre to them that are sort of a middle ground between the foam and moldable silly putty ones but they are the most irritable of them all as well as not staying put either so would not recommend them to anyone!

  • Interesting to read, I work with industrial machines and wear generic foam type ones for 8+ hours a day Mon to Fri and will often wear the same ones when I’m out and about to drown out the noise of society too. I dont mind them for the most part as I’m so used to them however every other month it was cause my ear canal to be quite painful for about a week.

I have always considered them but never wanted to pay the price.

Do you have recommendations of brands or companies I can look into for a decent set? I’m in the UK

  • I don’t know if I am the best person to ask as I am not really a “power user” or anything. It sends and receives emails and isnt google which is all I really need, I can’t really talk about any features it may or may not have that people might look for.

I like that I can make up to 10 different address from within that same account, send emails from any of those accounts from just a drop down box without logging in and out of different accounts.

I like that they give me credit to my account based in how much space I actually use in my inbox.

I recently upgraded to an “ultimate” type account which covers all their products for me and my gf to try and encourage her to move away from google. The way the drive works is a bit counter intuitive in my opinion and the password manager thing seems to work well across both windows and android but I’ve never used a password manager programme before so it could be dogshit in comparison to others, but it seems to work well for me.

Never tried the VPN as I pay for AirVPN.

Sorry, not very insightful for you in terms or details but I like it a lot and it all works well for me, I’ve never had issues with any of the apps or logging in and accessing my stuff. The primary thing for me was moving away from google.

  • I joined gmail in beta so similarly had had my address for an absurd amount of years.

Last year I completely switched over to proton for everything and keep my gmail as a junk account for shit I want to sign up for but don’t want to dirty my main with.

It was a daunting feeling undertaking at first but honestly it took me a couple of hours to go through and change the email on things I actually use and want to keep.

It was a nice freeing feeling and really helped me weed out what accounts I truly use and want to keep. I would highly recommend it as a cleansing exercise as much as anything else!

  • I’ve been into this style of music heavily for about 8 years now and was aware of it pretty much since its inception in the 00s, I also DJ this kind of music, so I have a large list on bandcamp that I follow to try and stay up with as many releases as I can. I’ll also listen to shows on SoundCloud from places like rinse FM, swu FM, infernal sounds dubstep and subtle FM to name but a few and will search out tracks and new artists I hear on there. I’ll also occasionally check the Juno charts if I have run out of new music to listen to and in the last year started building up a follow list on Spotify to check new releases there that I may have missed from all the other avenues.

Lysergenes style is sort of known as “Dungeon” so you could use that word to find other artists but I strongly suggest you also check out Distance (this is my favourite track) he has a lot of that kind of style stuff and is an amazing producer.

Not sure on a name for Omes style but if you like his stuff an artist I can recommend is Kercha.

Don’t wanna throw a million names at you at once otherwise you won’t bother but happy to make more recommendations I’d you want them. I look forward to hopefully seeing you around the community :D

    Have a great day!
