Woah that’s crazy how did you add the Kill Bill siren sound to your comment?

In revenge for reminding me of Frontpage I will also mention Dreamweaver. God just the memory of trying to clean up copy text someone edited in Frontpage is giving me nausea.
Thanks, but the reason I don’t have to imagine is because that job is a memory.
People genuinely thought ColdFusion would allow untrained businessmen to make complex websites with no coding, only markup. It could generously be described as a “web framework”, and it was released in 1995.
Haha yeah… imagine… right.
They taught you about pointers in high school? The only course available to me that even touched on programming just covered how to use C to do conditionals, read keyboard input, and print text to a terminal. The bulk of the course was learning MS Office.

Games@sh.itjust.works•Former PlayStation exec says there's a "collapse of creativity" in the industryEnglish
2·1 year agoThat definitely is the line we hear from CEOs when they raise prices, cut labor costs, and over monetize. Do you have any proof that production costs for games have gone up more than any other industry has? They pretty famously don’t pay game developers very well compared to other programming positions so I don’t know where this inordinate cost inflation would be coming from.

Technology@lemmy.world•The Optimus robots at Tesla’s Cybercab event were humans in disguiseEnglish
0·1 year agoPeople will still fall for it by treating it like a demonstration of what Elon wants to make, and just an early prototype. The abilities these “robots” displayed are on par with technology that has been available for over 20 years. They don’t realize the parts missing, filled in by human intervention, are the most difficult parts to create and literally cannot be done without a major, generational breakthrough in AI.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does each language have "lefty loosey righty tighty"?
1·1 year agoYou don’t really need to visualize yourself on the rim, either. Just turn left in any context and you will trace the path of an anticlockwise circle. It’s really more about establishing why there’s a link between left and anticlockwise. Picture and remember whatever works best for you, I’m just annoyed by the people stubbornly insisting the link between them doesn’t make perfect sense.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does each language have "lefty loosey righty tighty"?
1·1 year agoYou have to have a convention about Up to usefully describe a rotational direction at all. I don’t see how that’s relevant. Left implies an Up.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does each language have "lefty loosey righty tighty"?
2·1 year agoi know you can make the wheel work the opposite way, jesus christ. the circle motion the path of the car makes when you turn left is the same as when you turn the wheel to the conventional left. imagine, instead you steered “left” by a joystick. the car would still draw the same circular path the same fucking way, because turning left makes an anticlockwise circle, every time, in every situation.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does each language have "lefty loosey righty tighty"?
1·1 year agoNo im trying to illustrate the parallels between how you turn the wheel, how the car turns in response to that , and how they are all related. You turn left you will make the exact same rotational movement, with both the vehicle, and the steering wheel.
It’s as simple as, “What direction do you turn the wheel to make the car go left?” I just stacked on top “and also it makes the car itself do that same exact circular movement” so you don’t just dismiss this as some kind of arbitrary convention.

That counterpoint says that the only CoC he would write is “don’t be an asshole” and refutes the transphobia misgendering shit by posting the wider context where the guy is explicitly an immediate, unprovoked asshole to the person for having pronouns in their username. Tries to claim that the trans person being mocked “started it” by misgendering first, when the person in question simply assumed a gender to prove a point about the utility of pronoun tags, unlike the guy who deliberately chose to use the wrong pronouns to address someone, like an asshole.
This man is a clown fuck hyprland.
