Yeah this threw me as well. The US is so religious I hardly think this would be controversial.
There are. Certain groups don’t even believe in anything supernatural and don’t really take the bible literally at all.
There are definitely some Christians that would consider belief in the devil, or atleast a powerful devil, as a Dualistic Heresy.
Oddly enough these would usually be the most progressive Christians who usually consider the devil to be a metaphor for immorality, and ultra traditional Christians who never adopted the conservative evangelical movement.

One of them once tried to invalidate what I said by trying to dictate what my life or personal experiences were like, trying to forcefully penetrate the idea that they don’t really hate mexicans, that I am just crazy. That kind of attack always enrages me the most.
