I don’t understand why haven’t we changed the meaning of “faggot” like South Park did. Use it for homophobic republicans only, it’d be so fucking awesome. It’s a strong-sounding word, if LGBT consistently acts like it’s an insult to homophobics and not gay people, their minds will bleed out of anger
Some queer folk would have preferred to reclaim it for ourselves like we did with “queer”, but “faggot” and “fascism” share the same linguistic root and the single degree of dissociation is a bit too uncomfy for most.
Back when I was growing up 15 years ago, “faggot” was reclaimed. I still have trouble processing it as a slur. I don’t know how it fell back into being a slur and became denormalized.
