He is so weird. He used to be gay, but now he isn’t.

It sounds like he was questioning his own identity, like many children that age do when they are surrounded by influential and outspoken adults. I don’t see how or why that would be considered “weird”. Trying to turn it into an attack line actually seems quite homophobic.
