Kim coco offered up her home to my friends when they needed to be on Oahu for medical care for months. I haven’t interacted with her too much, but will be forever grateful for that.

First in state or first in any state? The sentence is ambiguous and Virginia elected Danica Roem in 2018

Montana has Zooey Zephyr, the woman who was famously censured by the state legislature and received national coverage.

      as its first

Sounds like Hawaii’s first, as that’s how pronouns work.

            All good man.

Is there really a need for the masculin default to be “All good”?

Look at her! Winning big time.

Show this around everywhere, so little trans boys and girls and everyone else know they can be anything they want.

While congrats are very much in order here, am I the only one cynically wondering if the word “Out” in the headline is doing a lot of heavy lifting?

She didn’t just win, she beat the speaker of the house in a single-party state whose politics is heavily influenced by knowing your place, waiting your turn, and not rocking the boat. Our incumbents are usually bulletproof. It’s a massively impressive victory even separate from making history as a first.

Also the first time a house speaker has been defeated in their primary in Hawaii history. Her opponent also outspent her 2:1, and had the backing of Senator Brian Schatz, the governor, lieutenant governor, and the mayor. Pretty incredible odds.
