Fox News and right wing talk radio 100% plays into it. I am from the same area Rush Limbaugh is from and that mofo is part of the reason on top of the almost 30 years of constant Fox News my mother has consumed for who she is nowadays. Fun fact though, I went to high school with some Limbaughs who were distantly related to Rush hahaha.
