Between Sept. 22-28, for any book bought from Powell’s Banned Book list, 20% of the sale will be donated. There are over 150 books on the list available to be purchased, including book titles such as “Hunger Games,” “1984,” “Heartstopper” and “The Color Purple.”

Seriously. I bought a book online as a gift, intending to pick it up on my way through Portland. They didn’t have it ready when I showed up, so they mailed it to me free of charge.

Powell’s is truly a treasure. I’ve been in bookstores nearly the world over. Powell’s is the best.
For those who don’t know, besides the online site, Powells occupies a square city block in downtown Portland.
