    Under federal law, the military is only allowed to shoot down drones over military bases if they pose a direct threat.

    That is really remarkable. Citizens talk about shooting drones flying over their property all the time, but learning that even the military isn’t free to do so is a bit shocking.

      Yeah There’s absolutely no reason why the military would let 17 drones hover over a military base. In the 70s I had some friends fly a aluminum foil box kite near a USAF SAC base. They thought they pulled it off until the next morning and when several uniformed and armed USAF officers knocked at their door. The ringleader later went to the USAF academy and became a pilot.

      That seems a bit beyond “hobby” level drones. I may be wrong though.

        Yeah, my point exactly. We’ve already identified these portable drone stations being deployed by what are assumed to be Chinese government moles around remote areas from the hardware. I’m sure this is the same.
