They are? Where? I mod a Community and I’ve never seen anything that isn’t explicitly for Admins that can see them.

For my community ( !actual_discussion@lemmy.ca ) I would adore this as long as it’s available to Mods of the community the downvotes are in and Admins of that instance only. It should absolutely not be visible for normal users.

We are hit with downvotes nearly every time we post a new thread on anything even remotely controversial so it would really help us filter out people who simply downvote to bury the thread and contribute nothing whatsoever to the discussion.

If you disagree, we want to know why and discuss that with you. It’s the entire point of our Community.

Heck, we actively made it a rule to not downvote unless the user is not adding to the discussion, and that it should not be used as a disagree button. People generally ignore this, however.

That or just add the moderator option to disable downvotes for Communities. It would be an incredibly handy toggle.

EDIT: For an example as to why it should be implemented, see this post you’re currently viewing where I give reasons, how it’s been impacting us, some alternatives, and people hit the “fuck you” button with zero discussion and that’s all. This is the problem.

Well, here is the dictionary definition of bigotry.

It fits both Alito and anyone who dislikes his views. I wasn’t aware the definition was so broad but it basically applies to everyone who dislikes anyone else’s view on anything.

Yes, I get that. I was finally able to find several news sites reporting the amount of money funnelled to Israel in order to ensure the US has a small foothold in that area of the world. It seems a tad excessive, but politically understandable I suppose. Allies in that region are valuable, but goddamn that’s a lot of money.

I also saw that this most recent payment structure was guaranteed for a certain time frame by Obama. Breaking the agreement off would be breaking treaties and guarantees. Not a great thing to do for America, but what’s going on over there is not exactly a good look. I think that I now agree that Biden should pull aid from Israel.

Understandably, they may have done so after WW2 and the creation of Israel to keep a “friendly” state in the region. That part makes sense.

So don’t jump down my throat please but I don’t understand this article. I have a couple of question that I would like an actual answer to and haven’t seen addressed anywhere else:

“Team America World Police” was a mockable idea back in the 90s and early 2000s because America stuck its nose everywhere - wanted or not.

Now here I see people attacking a president because he will not interfere in something that shouldn’t be America’s business? As far as I was aware, America leaving other countries the hell alone would be a good thing on the world stage, no? Why not get mad that any sitting president hasn’t interfered in the Uyghgur Genocide? Why just this?

Why is this particular conflict that has been ongoing for ages something worth blaming a current president for not interfering in?

The only thing I can really find online in the news are Republicans blaming Biden for the attacks on Israel which doesn’t make sense with the response here. What the heck is going on?

I don’t have a stance on this, I’m just trying to understand because it doesn’t make sense to me so please don’t take that as aggressive.

Ah! A few ways to do things:

1. Go into the YouTube “three dots” options and you can “Create Clip” which will allow you to shave out or repeat any length of video you want. If you shave it out, you can make it private and just repeat the single video. and / or
2. Use any YouTube download site (say like this one) and just get the MP3 or video which you can play over and over using any media player. and / or
3. If you’re on a phone, use a third-party YouTube app like GrayJay and it’ll block ads.
