You are literally linking to the post I crossposted.
Do some lemmy clients not distinguish crossposts?
Was the first paragraph written by the Meta marketing department?
I proudly still use a super specialised old school online forum and it works great for those purposes.
I’m already taken, sorry Nicole.
I’ve recieved about 8 messages over the past few months.
It’s not explicitly rightwing.
A couple years ago Musk was recommending Signal.
It’s just an example of right wing people recommending alternatives.
Matrix?
Looks interesting. But I don’t see what the point is unless you connect to fediverse or can attract a critical mass to keep it self sustaining.
she’s not a tech nerd
I convinced my non-tech nerd partner to switch to Matrix and it’s been working suprisingly well for us.
I mentioned scaled sort in my post. Yes it boosts communities with less activity (in practice this tends to be midsized communities as I mentioned in my post), but it does so generally. What my post is advocating for is a sort that boosts the communities you tend to engage with a lot, not every community that is less active.
the .bsky.social is the main instance. The bridge acts as another instance.
For example one of my friends has a ATProtocol account hosted on the fellas.social instance, so his username is @johndoe.fellas.social
it basically works like lemmy and mastodon in that regard
The main difference with lemmy/fediverse is that instances don’t actually host the software, they just host the database. So it’s plug and play into any open source ATProtocol software. This dramatically decreases server loads and makes hosting an instance or your data cheaper but also means that software is more intensive to host.
its opt in and the bridge is only a single instance so you can defederate from the instance
I guess my private server and open source appview conntected to the ATprotocol are a conspiracy theory then?
Yes the vast majority of people are on the main instance, but the protocol and software are decentralised. And bluesky the PBC is actually providing grants for people to set up alternative servers to speed up the decentralisation process.
Bluesky is far from perfect but I’ve been quite disappointed by the “Fedi Good bluesky bad” oversimplifying and villification that has been going on here recently.
sounds more like a potential browser/cache/extsnion thing than lemmy itself but what do i know
Would love to have more freedom with relation to reply notifications. Such as muting a comment or a post.
I believe there’s been github issues opened and closed for atleast the past year but it seems to not be a priority for the devs. If I had the disposible income to put a bounty on the feature I’d pay for it but well I’m poor as heck.
Man my dyslexia made me read “I care little about kids dying” and I was like wtf
Because Zelensky wants to win the war. And the morale of the population is extremely important to win. This could severely hamper morale. The most unpopular thing you can do is send kids who still live with mum and dad to the war.
And “isn’t a lot to ask”, you’re not the one sending thousands of your children to die every week to defend your very existence against a terrorist state who steals your children, executes POWs, uses chemical weapons, and murders civilians for fun.
And the only reason Ukraine are “low on men” is that they’re having to compensate for a severe lack of materials by having more troops with lower quality weapons. So sending missiles and more shells is really two birds with one stone here.
Forumverse makes the most sense but it really doesn’t roll of the tounge.
Hence I prefer Lemmyverse or Threadiverse.
