In the case of inverter air conditioning it might make a small difference at it won’t throttle down as it approaches the intended, not commanded, target.

Hard to beat for working with dying drives, although it’s a bit tricky to get it to just do used data areas instead of the whole drive.

As a heavy user of Playit Live, Excel with macros and Google Drive, I’m stuck in a Windows World for a while yet. The first two could maybe run in Boxes if I send the audio to a USB device.

So, could users just ignore that and just buy an anti-virus product or use 0patch? If it’s like Widows 8, most apps will still be updated for a few years.

In the mean time, on my phone at least, holding volume up makes it skip 30 seconds. Good if phone is with you at the time.

On thermostats it’s the difference between the off and on temperatures - like if you set it to 24 degrees, you could have a hysteresis of 1 degree, meaning it’ll turn on again at 23 degrees. (Or something like that.)

A bit like Motorola phones killing messenger e even if you tell them not to, or losing photos if you press home too soon after a night shot.
